He never got much of a chance here because he was a trade deadline acquisition last year. He kind of got lost in the mix of bottom six forwards with Stapleton, Machacek, Schremp, McArdle, Wellwood, MacLean and for a while Scheifele.
He looked good when he was in the line up. I think he's going to be a NHL regular.
Another piss poor decision by the new worst GM in the NHL. Waiving Maxwell was idiotic. He's a much better player than Glass, Thorburn and Slater.
Not saying he is a bad player, i would still like to have him in the system. But he was not close to out performing Glass or Slater. Maybe Thorburn but you can just start ditching a guy like Thorburn who has been with the team for 5 years for an unproven young guy who can't stick with a team.
As a Habs fan I confidently say Maxwell is not an NHLer and never will be a good one. He wasn't drafted to be a bottom 6 forward and that's the best he can become at this point.
The Barons have been really good this year and already have too many players. Not sure the Oilers would be interested in taking up another contract spot by claiming Chorney back.
I just had a feeling. I imagine the Barons will be even better with Chorney back. He's a good AHL player.

Yeah Maxwell was going to either become a 1st/2nd liner or nothing and he hasn't amounted to anything. It's not to say he will never make it now but the chances have became increasingly slim.
He asked for a trade. He wanted to play in the top-6 and the coach didn't.
Now that's just silly. Lapierre knows he's not a top-6 forward. What was the last straw for him was that he lost PK ice time to Mike Cammalleri. Lapierre is an effective forward that agitates, has speed, and can score some goals.
I'm not hung up on the whole thing. In the end, he's a dime-a-dozen player. I can understand though how it was a bad situation for him when he couldn't even play his role because there was purely offensive players taking that icetime.
Someone likely told Feaster they would take him for half on re-entry. It wouldn't really make sense otherwise, unless the Flames have an injury we're currently unaware of (but even then we have an extra forward already).
With injuries to Regin, Alfie, and Butler playing like crap.
Ditto for Montreal. Injuries have us playing Blunden and Palushaj, Hagman would definitely be an upgrade. I'm sure there are a few other teams in the same position.
