Per Nick Kypreos, it looks like Anaheim has claimed Ben Maxwell from the Jets.

Also Oilers re-claim Chorney.

#NHL waiver wire news. #Oilers reclaim Chorney and #Ducks pick up Maxwell from #Jets.

Hagman also on as per various sources

Maxwell will be a decent pick up.

He never got much of a chance here because he was a trade deadline acquisition last year. He kind of got lost in the mix of bottom six forwards with Stapleton, Machacek, Schremp, McArdle, Wellwood, MacLean and for a while Scheifele.

He looked good when he was in the line up. I think he's going to be a NHL regular.

Another piss poor decision by the new worst GM in the NHL. Waiving Maxwell was idiotic. He's a much better player than Glass, Thorburn and Slater.

Not saying he is a bad player, i would still like to have him in the system. But he was not close to out performing Glass or Slater. Maybe Thorburn but you can just start ditching a guy like Thorburn who has been with the team for 5 years for an unproven young guy who can't stick with a team.

Maxwell 4GP 0P -2
Glass 15GP 8P +2
Slater 13GP 6P Even
Thorburn 15GP 1P -1

As a Habs fan I confidently say Maxwell is not an NHLer and never will be a good one. He wasn't drafted to be a bottom 6 forward and that's the best he can become at this point.

I just had a feeling. I imagine the Barons will be even better with Chorney back. He's a good AHL player.

I like Lapierre.....not sure why Montreal rid themselves of him. Great agitator. Maybe took too many stupid penalties?

He and Martin didn't see eye to eye and started to ridiculously cut his icetime, so Lapierre requested a trade.

Thanks for proving again that you don't even watch Jet games.

Yeah Maxwell was going to either become a 1st/2nd liner or nothing and he hasn't amounted to anything. It's not to say he will never make it now but the chances have became increasingly slim.

He asked for a trade. He wanted to play in the top-6 and the coach didn't.

He wasn't safe and emotionless enough for Martin.

Now that's just silly. Lapierre knows he's not a top-6 forward. What was the last straw for him was that he lost PK ice time to Mike Cammalleri. Lapierre is an effective forward that agitates, has speed, and can score some goals.

I'm not hung up on the whole thing. In the end, he's a dime-a-dozen player. I can understand though how it was a bad situation for him when he couldn't even play his role because there was purely offensive players taking that icetime.

Someone likely told Feaster they would take him for half on re-entry. It wouldn't really make sense otherwise, unless the Flames have an injury we're currently unaware of (but even then we have an extra forward already).

^ Putting him on reentry doesn't mean we have any intention of actually calling him up.

I wouldn't mind if Ottawa claims him at 1.5M.

With injuries to Regin, Alfie, and Butler playing like crap.

Ditto for Montreal. Injuries have us playing Blunden and Palushaj, Hagman would definitely be an upgrade. I'm sure there are a few other teams in the same position.

It's either to test the waters or call him up. Really that's about it.
