Maybe it's a mistake, and it was supposed to be Ryan Russell going to the Blues.

CBJ trading Kris Russell to STL for Nikita Nikitin, but still hearing CBJ's Fedor Tyutin may be on move as well. We will see, tho.

Maybe they are adding more Russians so Yakupov has some friends next year.

Can this guy keep the puck out of the net? If not I don't particularly care.

How much is Russell making? Maybe a salary dump for an upcoming, larger trade?

Nikitin has a good shot, pretty decent vision, and can pass well. Not surprisingly, he can play a puck control game when the situation calls for it. Can chip in on the PP as well. Has size and doesn't shy away from contact. Decent gap control and stickwork. Generally good outlet passes.
He still needs work on his defensive coverage reads...moreso around the net than off the rush. Has a tendency to screen his goalie trying to block shots. Average speed at best, so needs to keep his feet moving to be effective without the puck.
A third pairing guy with some offensive/PP potential.

Awesome deal. Jackets shed dead weight and 1.3 million next season, plus money this year. Russ sucker, getting anything is a decent return.

I don't really care who they get rid of any more. What I do care about is GMSH using up all of our trade "assets," such as they are, and acquiring the same garbage return he has acquired to date. Trying to milk a little success out of non-prospects in hopes of saving his job. What in this guy's track record is ownership seeing that I'm missing? The only franchise I've followed worse than this one is the early 80s Cavs where the league slapped a moratorium on the owner to prevent him from making any more trades. That soon resulted in a franchise sale to a far better owner.
