Ugly, messy game, but the Habs grinded out the win. Emelin in for Diaz next game please.
In the last minute of regulation a Coyote forward came down the left side past Palushaj, past Diaz. I though the Habs were going to go home without even one point but the Coyotes didn't score. Palushaj and Diaz together looked like helpless naked babies. Don't the Habs have someone besides Palushaj to bring up when Kostitsyn is injured? I just don't see Aaron as an NHL regular. Coming back to Diaz: He has a lot to learn about defending.
For those curious here are all the defense's total 5 on 5 plus minus for the season as best I'm able to determine. One of the many stupid things about plus minus is how they count both empty net and short handed goals, which really distorts any meaning it had originally.

4 forwards out with injuries means that Palushaj is the best your going to get at this point. Both of those guys should be leaders in Hamilton right now instead of with the big club.
So does Palushaj. They are the Habs' twin weak sisters. When you throw in Diaz and Weber you see that the Habs aren't going to win any bodybuilding contests. People should learn to appreciate Kostitsyn.
Much as Gorges has been fantastic, Subban is far and away the best D-man on this club.
Oh, I agree. I just meant that's how I'd rank their play so far this year. Subban's had a couple of rough spots early on. But there's no question which one I would take if I could only have one of them for a season.
Very interesting, thanks. And not surprisingly, that's kind of how I'd rank their play this year.
I'm surprised that Subban is +3. He's been a chowderhead in some games this season. I guess the explanaton is that some of his mistakes resulted in his drawing the penalty.

Subban controls the game like nobody else in the lineup. He's just made some high profile mistakes that lead to goals against which has caused the bad things he's done to standout over the good. He's also taking less offensive risks this season and hasn't gotten the powerplay production so there hasn't been the countervailing good impression from noticable offensive plays.
I didnt feel like watching the game the today, so I didnt. I've never felt to disengaged from the habs.
Kudos for the win, though. Its never an easy task to get any points out of the yotes when you give them a 1-0 lead. I know that nobody really talks about the yotes but they can be a very stingy team if you let them get ahead.
Just got back from the game. Here are some thoughts:
-the city of Glendale is beautiful. Easy to see why alot of canadians come down here for the winter. All the buildings look new. The front desk clerk at the hotel I'm staying at said its all been built in the last 15 years.
- The area around jobing.com arena is really buzzing. They have awesome nightlife (shops, bars, restaurants) right outside the arena. It was fun watching all the habs fans hi-fiving each other and taking drinks in celebration of the win
- I pains me to say that most of the coyote fans don't look really enthusiastic about their team. When they scored not many people got up to cheer and the building doesn't get very loud. I kinda feel bad that they might lose their team now cuz the city of Glendale could really benefit from a strong hockey fan base. The area around the arena is so nice that it would be a shame to see it lose it's main attraction. I was talking to a sales clerk in the coyotes store and she said it only gets busy when Canadian teams come to town.
- on a positive note..the boys played a great game tonight considering how many guys are out! Can't wait for them to come down to LA in two weeks. I won't have to drive 6 hours to see them lol
Dear Santa,
For christmas, I would like to have some penalties called for my Habs. I hope this is not too much to ask. Tonight wasn't that bad, the refs were flat out on vacation, but when the other team gets all the calls, it's really annoying.
