Anyone else think the Kings should play the same third period style when the game starts 0-0? They were able to generate shots from the slot and still didn't allow any goals against.
Time to stop with the slowdown and win 2-1 game plan.
That first period set the Kings back. They had to climb up a steep hill to stage a come back and they nearly did that. The loss didn't result due to poor play or lackluster effort but to a terrible start in the first. Kings need to be better with the opportunities that are given to them.
My major concern is still the inability by the bottom six to generate offense.
I'm glad they didn't quit. But, god damn, start playing with more effort like they can and they can win games. Oh well. Still hope the worst for the Canucks.
I can't wait to go home Saturday. I get to watch the Kings on my own TV and get on my own computer.
6 outta 7 yeah? Oh and Richards is our best player all season.
I shudder when I think what we'd look like without him. Really hope we can turn this around and go much further than Philly to make this season profitable for him.

i don't think the first period has that much to do with it. it's all about offense, when we can't generate the 3 goals, we aren't doing enough offensively. we got a lucky 2nd goal, even without them scoring in the first, we'd just be scoring 1-2 goals today. That really just ain't cutting it.
This team has "crap the bed early and get it together down the stretch and go into the postseason on fire" written all over it. I'd rather we play like ass right now as opposed to fall apart in March. It's going to happen at some point in a season. I still believe in these guys.
Even regardless of the penalties, for a team that's supposedly got such a great defense, we've given up 3+ goals a LOT. For a team that's supposedly built to grind out 1-0 and 2-1 games, that's unacceptable.
It comes back to the discipline. Penalties galore. More odd man breaks this season than when we had stalwarts like Dallman back there. Doughty doing whatever the **** he wants without repercussions (this can only harm him in the long term). Is it the players getting away from the system? Is it the coaching? Is the team lacking an identity? Who knows?
At least the heart was there tonight, but results matter.
Penner has been very likable the last 2 games. Kopitar is an animal...as is Richards. And Fraser-Moreau-Lewis provided just the right amount of cluster-..messiness
If we don't take those first period penalties we win this hockey game
If the Queen had balls, she'd be the King (and we could use her too).
Kings have goals in just 5 of their 16 1st periods. These poor starts are killing this team along with the early penalties which by the way are not the coach's fault.
