I typically hate most sitcoms, but this one actually keeps my attention. The anti-PC slant is nice.
Now if you wanna start bashing FOX shows, let's start with the Simpsons. Talk about boring.
The Simpsons went through a phase where it wasen't that great, but that was because they were inviting celebrity guests every week and focusing on that instead of storylines. These days the show is solid. It's pretty amazing that they've been able to keep it fresh for what, 16 years now.
They've got their pulse on pop culture and are able to criticize and ridicule it every week. There's the stuff that's funny because you know the characters, but there's also a lot of great subtle jokes about politics, pop culture etc...
As for the war at home, I've seen two episodes and I haven't been that impressed. It's a typical sitcom that does nothing to standout. I kind of like Rappaport, in the episodes I've seen they've shown what he's thinking and that can be funny.
Still, the only show's selling point is that they talk about sex. Are people that uptight that parents talking about sex with their kids is considering shocking? So his son dates an uggo and his daughter wants breast implants...yawn. There really isn't enough there for me to keep watching it.
The #1 thing I hate about American sit-coms. The laugh tracks always TELL YOU WHEN TO LAUGH. I know when to laugh or not, when something is funny. Quit trying to tell me what I'm suppose to think is funny.
