Money was probably a consideration. Maxwell gets paid $715,000 in the NHL and $62,500 if sent down. Stapleton is on a one way contract worth $525,000. Stapletons contract isn't that expensive, but we are stuck with it. (How I would love to make $525,000 per year )
With Fehr returning soon there really isn't a need for either player in the lineup, but at least they could try to move Maxwell.
I sure hope they didn't waive Maxwell to save money.
I am hoping something bigger is in the works, but I doubt that too.
I imagine Fehr and Hainsey are getting activated, but not sure how that affects our roster limit.
Fehr's taking contact in practice now so he'll most likely be activated off of IR in the next couple days. Too bad to lose Maxwell for sure but there have been a surprising amount of claim and re-waive's so far this season, so there's still a chance the Jets may get him back.
