I think Brad is playing much better than his stat line would indicate, especially between chances he's setup that have gone unfinished and how much his presence has helped PP puck movement in general.

Plus 2 of his goals were (just about) complete solo efforts that you can argue directly resulted in 3 pts in the standings (first Anaheim game, Montreal).

I would say 1)secondary scoring behind that 1st line
2)I give duby until end of month before i really start worrying
3)Staal even though i don't think he will be back
4) Im not too worried about Prust even if he did go down, I feel Avery is a more than adequate replacement.

Well i kind of count Dubi into the secondary scoring. Callahan, Anisimov, Stepan, Richards and Gaborik have all been adequately producing. Dubi hasn't.

Regardless, there are much more important things than how Richards is playing. He hasn't blown me away but he certainly hasn't been bad.

NYR Boyler87- I don't really agree with your comments on Richards.

I think he is exactly what, at least I, expected him to be. And thats not a player that can carry the load by himself. He has never been that in his career. Like we, NYR, have probably played Richards in Tampa 30 times -- can anyone ever once remember a game were Richards was like a worry for us? I cannot. He isn't that type of player. He can't pull a Eric Staal and put his team on his back even at times.

But what he is, is; i) a elite top end player. Give him the puck in the attacking zone and he will make things happend. No doubt. If you let him into your end, you never shut him down completly (and thats something thats done to a offense pretty often in the league today, having someone like BR is very important). ii) He is a elite PPQB. One of the better in the league. He will make our PP alot better.

I wanted no part of Richards if he were going to get top money. I said it all summer. Because we would not get a top player. Not even someone who comes just after the absolute best (someone like Getzlaf overall is just so much better than Richards).

But at the same time, you get a hockey player who is darn valuble to have on a team. For the reasons (i) and ii)) mentioned above. There is also a good chance that BR really will mesh with Cally and co and put up good numbers, like he did in Dallas after finding a perfect spot for him between Neal and Eriksson.

In the end we ended up paying Richards a little little less then top dollars (I think below 6.5 would be more OK), but its no biggie.

Every Anisimov interview reminds me of the goalie being interviewed in Slapshot...

I think Richards is doing fine, but I wish he'd hurry up his point production so that the haters would stop saying that NYC is a career-killer. Not that they would stop, but at least it would be more obvious that they are wrong.

Dubi gets 2-3 more games, then he needs to feel some pressure. If he is goalless then, stick him on the 3rd line for a while and call up Zuke (no - I am not Norwegian!). Torts always preaches accountability - let him show his consistent objectiveness here then. I see it as a win/win...

AA - Stepan - Gaborik
MZA - Richards - Cally
Dubi - Boyle - Prust
Feds - Avery - Deveaux

with Christ in for Avery or Deveaux against softer teams....
Might get Boyle going too...

Oh - I almost forgot about this one

Might not be the best of buddies... ;-)

Ward, ugh.

He always shows up against the Rangers. He's probably my favorite goalie outside of the Rangers if i had to pick one - he's dangerous and can steal a game.

Thats my biggest worry, not Staal and the reaction he'll get or if any fists will be thrown. They'll get that out of the way rather quickly if anyone intends to do that - and im sure Torts has told his guys not to. To be honest, I think its stupid to go after him. It was a hockey play and there was nothing dirty about it imo.

Anyhow, it would be nice to get 6 in a row, but this is a tough game to win. An island home game in the midst of a road trip - you have the pressure of a lot of days in between games coming up... a lot of practices. Gotta keep skating tonight.

No, in other words im not dumb enough to get baited into a pointless argument with you over what we should be concerned more about. Sorry if Richards and his 2nd on the team in points and 2 huge goals which got up 3 points is ranked very high for you for concerning issues.

Interesting team in Carolina. Skinner is their best guy right now, Staal is playing terribly.

Team needs to stay out of the box tonight. Even though they have a bottom half PP%, guys like Skinner, Kaberle, and others are dangerous on the PP.

Keep this game 5 on 5, we should come out on top. Their D isn't strong in their own end, but if they have possession, their puck movers in the back end will be able to make plays and generate plays off the rush.

I'm expecting Boyle, Feds, and Prust to have a strong game tonight. Dubi can do work on a weaker defense down low as well. We're the type of team that will beat Carolina, but Ward is capable of stealing this one.

4-2 Rangers

Gabby, Feds, Dubi, Boyle (EN)

I think he's been worse than his stat line would indicate.

I'm not worried though, the transition from Dallas to NY on a huge contract will take some time for him to get used to.

Dubinsky has been playing fine. He hasn't been scoring, but he's been getting chances, assists, and playing sound defense. The goals will come.
