^^ I wouldn't take too much from what Razor said. I do think they like the player but I think they also realize he's overpaid for what he brings.

I just really don't think they had any intention of making a shakeup trade to solve this problem, which is why some here are butthurt we ended up with a guy who's being overpaid by 700 or so thousand, which is about how much Barch is overpaid.

i'd take on hagman for one year at $3M versus nystrom for three at $1.4M per.

i thought this was just to push the team over the cap this season. term seems more important than the amount overpaid.

i figure there's gotta be several teams with overpaid players looking to shed a contract.

hmmmm... nhlnumbers.com has it through 2013/14. but yeah, capgeek has it just through next year. still, i'd rather really really overpay someone for just this year instead of really overpay someone for 2 years. open up all the cap space that's possible for the new owner.

Well, let us consider that we have to re-fill our bottom 6 next year. I'm okay with him for next year. Not like we want Petersen or Barch down there again...

Speaking of Barch he didn't **** up that badly tonight...

I think you guys will end up really liking Eric Nystrom. Nothing more than a 3rd/4th liner, but he busts his ass every shift and is a rather clutch player.

Plus for you Slapshot fans.....

i see no way that the nystrom situation can bite us...

even with a new owner, i don't see us spending to the salary cap until well after this contract expires regardless.

he's the right kind of guy and player to fit into what we need. who cares what he makes. it's not our money, and it's not handycapping the roster in any way shape or form (unless you count sending vincour to austin as a great tragedy)

Exactly. We got him for literally nothing (at least right now) and he's just another guy we can rotate through the bottom 6 to keep the depth fresh.

The future considerations you mean? Pretty sure that's just a term teams use for "have him for nothing."

If he keeps up even half the play he's had this year over his contract I won't really mind the 2nd year.
