so by dressing shelley and rinaldo, they lost that game? so if nodl dressed they might have won? i have heard it all now. nodl still may be hurt but he is not making any difference in a game like that. none. having those 2 in the lineup together i do agree is not smart, however it was #100 on the list of why they lost last night. the 4th line should be rinaldo-talbot- Z.

you dont think rinaldo can play and thats ok, it is your opinion. Nodl has been given chance after chance and shows little to nothing at this point. his game has not progressed. he is a an interchangeable 4th line player who i would move for a mid rd pick. Then give soemoen else on the phantoms a shot to see what they have to offer.

the flyers best d prospect (i assume you mean gus) isnt an everyday nhl player and as time goes on people will realize this. The flyers d prospects blow out the ass. that is a fact. it is very disturbing that they cant: 1) identify good players and draft them 2) then not develop them.

Just want to point out, he is still the best +/- on the team at +9

he also does this in 13:24 average TOI - with often sketchy line mates and mostly defensive/ neutral zone draws.

Well Schenn is out of his boots and practicing today. I feel like he is ahead of his projected time-out here

Would be interesting where he fits in. Most of the lines are connecting except the second one of JVR-Briere-Simmonds.

Want to see more from Schenn.

I like his grit and willingness to battle in the corners.

Good to see he is getting healthy.

He probably will get some conditioning in the AHL before returning to the Flyers' roster.

It's great that Talbot is going on a nice offensive streak, but I don't think an 8 game run completely redefines who he is as a hockey player. I expect him to cool off sooner or later. Talbot has already played well with Couturier, and I don't see Simmonds on the 4th line.

Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr
JVR - Briere - Simmonds
Read - Schenn - Voracek
Talbot - Couturier - Nodl/Zolnierczyk/Rinaldo
Shelley

Agree with this, although I wouldn't be opposed to swapping Read and Simmonds/JVR if it becomes necessary. Shelley should never dress again. Max-Sean-Harry Z/Rinaldo/Nodl has the potential to be one of the better energy lines the league.

Finally, Schenn is almost back to a point where we can propose 500 trade proposals for bad-decent prospects for him.

No timetable.

“The main goal is to get it better day by day,” said Schenn, adding he felt “pretty good.” “Obviously, no timeline. Hopefully, tomorrow it feels better.”

Schenn went hard in drills, too, but remains in a walking shoe off the ice.

“If I can’t go hard then there is no point in me being out there,” he said. “I feel pretty good. Really, all I can do is get myself back in skating shape. Hopefully, it continues to heal.”

Coach Peter Laviolette said he couldn’t read much into Schenn being on the ice given it was just his first time and it’s been a while since he last skated with the team.

“He’s a great kid, who works hard, and eventually, he will get back in there,” Laviolette said.

Schenn said while the doctors haven’t restricted him, he continues to exercise caution on the ice.

“I haven’t been skating on it a whole lot,” he said. “Just be cautious off the start and test it out every day. I wear the walking shoe and keep it on for extra protection and what not. Just keep on the rehab part of things until the swelling goes down.”

It's all about chemistry and hard work, not status. Talbot Voracek and Read have it. Voracek is looking awesome, Read chips in, Talbots grinds. So when that lines cools off the change will need to be made. You want to break up a successful line just because it looks better on paper with other players?

You do not see Simmonds on 4th line but you do not have a problem seeing Couturier there? I put Simmonds there because he is good not because he is 4th liner. Want to give Couturier someone good to play with. Someone other than Rinaldo, or Shelley.

I like those lines DG posted:
Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr
JVR - Briere - Simmonds
Read - Schenn - Voracek
Talbot - Couturier - Nodl/Zolnierczyk/Rinaldo
Shelley

I have no problem with Couturier and Talbot on the 4th line, as good as they are when they play together at ES or on the PK. I also wouldn't have a problem putting Schenn at 4C until he gets back up to speed.

Read isn't bad at C, but I think Schenn will force him to move over eventually. Read is more of a winger to me.

If we leave the top two lines together for now, then the next two could be moved around:

Talbot - Couturier - Voracek
Nodl/HZ/ZR -Schenn - Read

That's a pretty good bottom 6, and until Briere is pushed to the wing, Schenn and Couts are going to be 3C/4C for the foreseeable future - which is fine since they are both in their apprenticeship stage.

Regarding Talbot's offensive outburst, there aren't many on here who will remember Talbot in Jr, but he was an star in the Memorial Cup a couple years in a row. Can't remember if they won it or not, but he always had lots of offensive skill then, it just got stifled in Pitt. Heck, if not for a great save by Boosh, he would've scored a beauty SHG last game on set up from Giroux.

I would like to try to switch Briere an Schenn in your line up.

I feel that Briere needs someone with vision and skills to set him up and Voracek might just be what the doctor ordered.
