During one powerplay, I just remeber thinking that leino and adam couldn't have been any further apart chemestry wise.

Another ugly

- Only two Sens didn't wind up as a minus tonight: Alfie and Cowen. Ouch.

And yet, in others, they moved the puck well and generated chances. Eh. I'm not concerned.

It's always good for people who don't watch the Sabres, yet make comments based on their stats (see TSN Dave Hodge).

Will be interesting to see how this team comes out against Boston. The B's are riding a hot streak too, last I recall. Also four in a row.

This team has been mentally frail the past few years. I want to see the leaders buckle down and get these guys ready to play. You can't be intimidated against them just because they're the champs.

Awesome game! The Sabres kindly scored all their goals at our end of the ice and didn't do anything in the second while I was wandering around the arena. Seemed like their best home effort of the season, glad I was there to catch it.

Just got home from the game....

G-
Stafford was the engine that drove the offense
Enroth with another solid game
Team as a whole playing a complete game
Good north south game, not much east west
Myers looks better tonight
I thought Ehrhoff and Gragnani were going to be a nightmare together, but were pretty good.
Roy slowly starting to ramp it up
Leino in the 2nd and 3rd looked good...mostly
Ellis being rewarded for such hard gritty play
B-
Being outshot.... Again
Leino in the 1st
Something that really stuck out to me, and maybe he does this often, but I really noticed it tonight was, Leino not pursuing the puck if he gets knocked off the puck and it goes more than a stick length away. He generally stops pursuing the puck and starts coasting toward the puck instead of skating hard after it. I kinda don't like that.
A couple penalties the Sabres took were such lazy bonehead penalties. So not necessary.

U-
McCormicks face. Due to that fight the other night.
The second period was just an ugly 20 min. of hockey.

I'll be honest, I thought he was fine the entire night. I didn't see anything different in his game in the first. Just another solid outing from Ville. I feel that he's really begun to come along nicely.

I don't think they'll be intimidated. They've seen them too much since April 2010 (12 times) to be intimidated. They may lose because Boston is a very good team that's playing well right now, but it won't be because they're scared.

G:

Roy's line is heating up, looks like Leino has found a role. Finally.

Enroth.

Leopold has had about 3 bad shifts all season. Maybe.

B:

The Sens aren't very good at anything.

Vanek. He's certainly excused, I mean playing one or two mortal level games a season is okay.

The energy from the fans in attendance. It's easy for me to say because I'm home eating Newton's Fruit Thins (fig and honey!!) and dipping soft pretzels in honey mustard while the Cherry Coke Zero flows like wine. With my 600mhz/58" plasma HDTV displaying gorgeous HD and my 7.1 surround sound pumping the action into my brain from all angles while I sit snug on my couch. But...seemed kind of subdued for a Friday night crowd.

U:

Another missed ref call, when the Sen hit the puck with his glove off a draw before it ever hit the ice.

Some more let's go Buffalo chants would have been nice but it was a pretty relaxed night overall.

What annoys me is when everyone leaves with 5 minutes left. It's like...cmon people, we are winning! Stay and revel in it! When the 3 stars came out the building was basically empty. I feel bad for the guys who have to skate out to a dozen people cheering for them.

I always stay for the entire GAME. I almost never stay for the 3 stars, but I listen for them as I'm walking out in the concourse. It's just what I do

Absolutely. It hasn't really shown on the stat sheet, but Leino has been playing far better lately. Nice to see him get rewarded with a goal.

Same for me actually...IMO you should at least stay for the whole game unless the Sabres are getting severely blown out..but this was the first game in awhile I actually stuck around for the 3 stars. It amazed me how empty it was for them.

G- Enroth
- Beating the Sens, again
- Roy/Stafford/Leino
- Pominville, Vanek, Adam
- Boyes looked solid
- Gaustad on the draw
- Leopold with the goal that really won them this game.
- Overall, this is right up there with the Calgary game as one of the top performances of the season
- Winning record at home - finally! Last year it took them what 35 home games?
- D as a whole.

B-Wasn't impressed with the 4th line in the 2nd (pretty petty complaint)
- Gragnani with a terrible giveaway on the PP with a 2-1 lead - could have been a game changer.

U-The Ottawa Sun giving the Sens D and PP the advantage in the pre-game writeup (although the Sabres PP didn't make them look bad)

Good:
Chasing their goalie 2ish minutes in

Bad:
Um....

Ugly:
Being so tired from the week I fell asleep on my couch just after the start of the 2nd so I missed most of the game and can't really contribute.

8 of last 9. Undefeated in Ottawa for nearly a year and a half.

I attribute it to my flawless attendance record at SBP for Sabres games.

I forgot to mention how impressed I've been with Boyes' play this season. I understand why he was in everyone's "doghouse" prior to the start of the season, but I really don't think his play has been bad at all this year.

He's very good on the PP. He's always moving his feet, and he's been looking to get that shot off quite a bit. His production is nothing to write home about, but his play has been very good. The goals will come.

Ugly: The $6.25M franchise goalie riding the pine. This team plays so much better in front of Enroth, and Miller is just not as good as the rookie right now- I hope it's not a permanent condition.

They're playing back to back, the first game against a team that's rebuilding, the second against the defending SC champions.

Pretty sure it was planned all along to start Enroth vs Ottawa and Miller vs Boston.

Anyway...

Can't really complain much about the game, 5-1 relatively easy win...

Just wanna point out that all 3 D pairings looked absolutely fine.
And that Ehrhoff's slowly getting his groove back.

Yeah we're not the leafs.

I was thinking, if injury to the top 6 occurs, I think we should try Gerbe in the top 6, I think he would thrive with some legit scorers on his line. I mean Boyes looks nice out there, but if he had Roy or Vanek, He could be legit.

Does Kaleta get his spot back? I've really like Boyes on that line.
To be quite honest, I see a trade coming, either at the deadline or even sooner possibily.
Too many wingers.
The Roy/Stafford/Leino line may be doing decent these past 4 or 5 games, but it wasn't great to start the season. Obviously things can change if they slump again.

The Vanek, Pominville, Adam line I'm not as impressed with as others are here.
I'd like a speedier center with Vanek and Pommers and I'd like to see Adam with Gerbe and Boyes.

Shift Goose back to the 4th line with Kaleta and McCormick.
Send Ellis back down to Rochester.
