If it were up to me, I'd give Allen the most work, so he can get the experience, and develop faster than he would with less work. Bishop needs work as well, but he's closer to his ultimate upside. I assume their workloads will be fairly even.

How is Peoria looking so far? I saw that they are 0-4 but just wondering how guys like Cole, McRae, SDR, Cudnari, Allen are performing.

Pretty much everyone is under-performing right now... the offense is third-worst in the AHL, and the defense is near the bottom as well (averaging 2.00 GF / 4.00 GA).

The leading scorers are veterans Brett Sterling (4 GP, 2-2-4) and TJ Hensick (4 GP, 1-3-4). Sterling and SDR are the only players who have more than one goal.

McRae woke up last night with a hat trick....

Polacek was sent down to Alaska. Shields went down earlier this month.

Probably the best chance to get ice time for both of them.

Good to hear! I have more hope that he'll be a factor for The Blues than Ponich, and most of the other defence prospects. It will be interesting to follow his progress.

Two interesting guys in Peoria - Adam Cracknell and Cade Fairchild.

Cracknell has stepped ahead of Phil McRae on the call-up list, I think. And Fairchild is +9 in eight games, scored his first goal last nite.

Also - Chase Polacek has scored a goal in each of his two games with the Aces.

Ponich has been playing 3rd pairing minutes + PK. First several games, he didn't really stand out good or bad; his +/- was ok. Last couple games, he really struggled. Example: Ponich had a chance to pin a forward against the boards but wasn't physical enough and the guy kept skating right by him and scored on an easy chance. Last game he mis-handled the puck right in front of our net 3 times but was bailed out each time. Not using his size enough, although he has dropped the gloves a couple times.

He does get decent time on the PK where he can use his long reach to advantage and hide his below avg. skating.

In an 8-7 win last night McRae had his second hat trick of the season. To date he has the odd stat line of 14 games, 7 goals and 1 assist.

Don't forget that The Rivs have a pretty poor defence this season. Allen's poor stats could be just a reflection of that.

It's been a strange early season for McRae, who was only playing 9-11 mins a game for a spell, and primarily with 3rd/4th line players. He had two great games last wknd, recording 8 shots in one of them, but came up empty with increased minutes, but this guy needs to play with top-line players to complement his skillset.

Maybe this was his breakout game, especially given the timing of those last 2 markers last night.

Was no big deal. He is playing more some shut down roles and has been stepping up his aggressiveness. Probably the most physically active player. He took 3 similar penalties in one game and the coach perhaps thought he needed to sit out and think about it.

Agree with prior reply. The Rivs also played 3 games in 3 nights, so a couple guys were going to sit for 1 of those. Cundari hasn't played up to the level of last year's play yet. I think he'll get it going eventually.

In case you're not checking out AHL stats, here's some of note:

- Hensick leads the AHL with 21 pts.
- Sterling is tied for 2nd with 19 pts.
- Bishop is the #6 ranked goalie with a GAA of 1.99
- Allen is the #53 ranked goalie (out of 54) with a GAA of 4.46
- Peluso is #3 in PIMS at 69 in 14 games
- Fairchild is #1 in +/- at a +13
- Syvret is #2 in pts. for Dmen with 13
- Peoria is #2 in the league in PIMS at 328 total

Peoria with a 3 game win streak to get back in the middle of the pack.

Hagel could miss rest of the season with shoulder injury from a fight
Gannon out with concussion should be back soon

Nice to see McRae turning it up. Also noted that Big Ben has the best save percentage of goalies that have played over 400 minutes.

Can anyone shed any light on Allen's performance. Sounds pretty miserable.

I would also like to hear about this, but on the flip side its good to see Bishop having a good year.

Also wondering how Ponich is doing so far this year.
