I heard the news on my 9th birthday. Now at 29, it still saddens me that such a tremendous talent and person was snuffed out so soon.

I hope the Flyers tradition of no one wearing #31 continues forever.

Brian Propp's sentiments after the game tonight was cool.

Though im a Islander fan..i remember when i heard he died

now back then it was a real rivalry- Isles-Flyers

but i remember how when i heard about it during a High school game

and we stopped to give him a moment of silence
[Even as Isles fans we had a tremendous amount of respect for him]

Not only did The Flyers lose a great goalie

the NHL did

RIP Pelle

What did he say?
Does anyone have audio they could post?

He was asked by someone (post-game host perhaps) about a newspaper article which mentioned that Propp keeps the eulogy and a photo of Lindbergh with him. He talked about the closeness of that team and how everyone lost their innocence, in a sense, when the news came down. It was a touching reminder of frailty in a first hand account.

I think in 5 years for the 25th anniversary they should raise it to the rafters.

Nope. I assume they don't want to 'honor' someone who died driving drunk, but it should never be worn again.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in college and my teacher and I were discussing the tragedy. Pelle had a great future ahead of him and it's too bad it ended like that. RIP Pelle.

above anything, it can still be a celebration of his life and it is apparent to me that he is still beloved in this town and Flyer nation 20 years after his passing. the fact that people remember Pelle, not the way he died, has not changed that

I'm not a flyers fan, and i wasn't born, but that is one of the saddest stories i have ever heard.

So, RIP, Pelle
