Frank Nighbor info help

My dad is probably the biggest sens fan on the planet. Anyways he's decided to get himself a Nighbor jersey but can't find any info on what number he wore. He's not an Internet guy, he's almost 80, so I've been trying to help him with no success. As a last resort, I thought I'd ask here. Any of you guys have any idea? Much thanks in advance!

According to this online auction and his official NHL page, either he wore no number or nobody knows. I'd be interested to know how that BR person got their data.

Appears Frank Nighbor wore #6, at least in 1927

check out the book "Win, Tie or Wrangle" by Paul Kitchen, its the story of the original senators... Might be able to find out from that

Here's some old gameday programs from the 1920's and 1930's.

If you zoom in on the pages with the lineups, you can see that Frank Nighbor wore the #6 sweater.

He did wear 6.

SIHR, something that I consider a definitive source, also confirms this.

The previous post confirms this, yeah. I never said that he didn't wear 6, just that I'd be interested in finding out the source. Now I know.

I think my post came off as more terse than I meant it to...

No worries, tone's hard to convey across the Internet sometimes.

Sorry guys, this thread definitely helped and I'm posting to report that the Nighbor jersey should arrive next week! Thanks to all for their help, and I'll post a pic of it once it arrives!
