id rather wait for Kadri to develop and hope Kulemin regains his form. hes only slumped for the first part of this season , 17 games and we're writing him off. In the summer this board was pegging him as our best forward. Our best forward and our best prospect and a young dman for a 1 dimensional center who isnt even young anymore ? I hope this wasn't really the offer.
Just a hunch, but Burke would give Connolly a fair share of games before trading for a #1C lol..
Well if Kessel and Lupul are scoring at their rate, Stastny only needs assists, win battles, win faceoffs and be responsible defensively. Stastny is 4.5 five years younger than Connolly and can at least stay healthier.
Yes Connolly should get time to prove what he can do, but if he can't step on the ice cause he is too brittle, you need to react and not wait for him to tape himself together again.
yeah Stastny would be a welcome addition but giving up Kadri and Kulemin is a bit much. if we already have someone in TC who can play at Stastny's level and already under contract then why make this trade. He won't be injured all year. Dont make a panic move until he's done for the season. Connolly looked good in the limited time he's played and he can kill penalties.
Not to explain it away completely, but since the Stewart/Johnson trade, Stastny has been playing with the second and sometimes third string wingers, thus why his point average is down. Landeskog has been playing with O'Reilly. Hejduk has spent a ton of time with Duchene until the last few games. Jones, who is streaky as hell, has been Stastnys best winger since the Stewart trade, and he (Jones) is simply a goal scorer and has very little play making ability. This season, for example, he started with Kobasew and Jones...and has since shifted to Lindstrom and Hejduk.
Give him a winger like Kessel and his point total gets closer to the 90-100 point per season range easy.
I would also not underate what Winnik would bring to that deal. Winnik has been one of the Avs hardest working and best players since he was brought in from the Yotes. Not to say he is going to put up a ton of points, but he brings so many of those things that you just cannot put on the score sheet. I would not trade Winnik for anything less than a late 1st rounder at this point in terms of value.
