A second collision with more force than the Lucic hit happened shortly after. You cannot possible know which one caused the concussion. I think they both attributed to the concussion but it's possible that only the Seguin collision caused it.

Without knowing for sure if either of the two were the sole contributor to the concussion than I can't see grounds to suspend Lucic IF the reason is because Miller suffered a concussion.
Dude, I'm all over it. @BNHarrington. Check out his tweets. Hysterical and sad.

That guys pathetic. "Bruins are brave at home but Lucic wouldn't pull it on the road" What are the fans going to beat him up? The Sabres surely aren't going to

Like someone else said, he leaned back.. not INTO Miller.

I don't think anyone gets out of the way in time, especially not Lucic. He's not the greatest skater. Hell, Seguin and Marchy might be the only guys on our team that could have sidestepped that hit with such little warning.
Honestly, unless your looking straight down at the ice, you can see that far infront of you. If he kept his feet moving, it is understandable that he was going after the puck. But like I said, by the time he gets to the top of the circle, he stops skating, sets his feet wide. He knows theres an impact coming. And being in the NHL, if you cant make a 2 foot sidestep when you have 15 feet of ice, then, well, you probably wouldnt be in the NHL. He knew he was going to get beat to the puck, which is why he stopped skating, otherwise, he would have kept his feet moving.

I'm looking forward to Shanahan's little instructional video on how he is going to suspend Lucic for a clear as day shoulder to shoulder hit.

That's what I was referring to. I brought that exact point up. Dismissed out of hand. Naturally, lol.

The league only have to show that Lucic had intention to injure. Injury, previous occurrences etc set the length if suspension but it comes down to intent.

This is why Chara got off - no intent (and no history) and also Chara didn't say anything silly after the hit even when Pacioretty called Chara out.

at this point just suspend Looch and move on. I'm sick of hearing about it and sick of hearing the haters.

We'll be okay without him for a bit. Doesn't bother me either way.

I hope there is no suspension. That's not the type of hit that the NHL is trying to "zone in on". Sure they might not like it hense the penalty but to suspend someone for it is another issue. I personally think if the Sabres manned up and taken care of it themselves there would be no hearing. The league is now doing what players should be doing, taking care of there own business. That hit would never have flown on a bruins net minder, let alone Tuukka or Timmy kicking some ass I bet everyone on our roster would have stepped up.

Especially without showing Miller's obvious slash at Lucic's knees.

You can always see him shift his weight, and lifts his arms up and follows through. With the exception of him dragging his back foot immediately after the contact with Miller, it looked pretty close to any other hit he would have made on another player. Especially because he followed through with his arms/hands, which may or may not have been the reason for Millers helmet coming off, which came off at the point of impact, not when he hit the ice.

Honestly, I hate to bring it back to the Chara hit on Pacioretty, with the issue of where the puck was, but the Miller did get rid of the puck in enough time for Lucic to keep moving forward, and avoid contact with Miller. We all know what type of player Lucic is. He gets PO'd a lot which carries over to his intensity which is what makes him a great player. If that was me, I would have been ticked off too if I could have had a break away but pushed the puck too far ahead of myself allowing the goalie to sweep it away. I probably would not have taken it out on the goalie, but that is Lucic's style and the way he plays the game.

By the time he got to the stop of the circle, he realized that he was not going to beat Miller to the puck. Basically at this point you can see that he sets his feet wide and basically goes for a hit as if it were on any other player, and follows through with his arms/hands.

That is why I think that it is suspendable. It could have been avoided.

Having said that, Miller was out of the crease, but I still feel that it was totally uncalled for.
Hitting a goalie is not a suspendable offense. It's a penalty.

Intent to injure is a suspendable offense. I don't see intent to injure.

And a hearing is not a suspension.

no

and the more i think about it, the more i think he won't be suspended. There are so many factors as to why.

And correct me if im wrong, but if he were to be suspended, would be the first player ever suspended for a play he already was penalized for, and more specifically, given only a minor for?

So he hit him with his shoulder and he gets a hearing. **** you NHL. Just let the players play and sort out some of this stuff. If you ran Cheevers you were dead. Its a fact and I clearly remember it. Now its a ***** league that goes nuts for every little thing. I'll bet Miller only misses one start. Screw him and the typical heartless Buffalo Sabres.

I don't think I've seen anyone bring up the Gionta hit on James Reimer as precedent. I know it's not exactly the same thing but there are a few similar elements to it. In each case, a lack of body control caused the hit and each goaltender is now out with a concussion. Plus, Gionta's was a hit to the head, intentional or otherwise.

I love the people saying Lucic was trying to injure Miller.

If Lucic was trying to injure Miller it would have been the mother of all hits and they'd still be cleaning up the wreckage.

Lucic never comes off his line chasing the puck, doesnt elbow and no direct point of contact with the head. Its 2 min for interference/roughing/w/e you want to call it. Dont let the fact that its Ryan Miller change that.
