Great job by Anaheim. They need depth scoring and while Cogliano is playing well with Koivu and Selanne right now, it opens up options down the road for a Hagman-Koivu-Selanne line.

Good pick up by the Ducks. Should give them some nice depth. Plus Calgary finally rids of a contract they have been looking to move.

I actually like this for Anaheim. Hagman can be a good 3rd liner. He might be able to find some chemistry with the other Finn's on the team. Plus he is sort of hidden in Anaheim out of the spot light. Maybe that will help him get his game back on track.

Good call by a poster a few days ago saying the Ducks could use Hagman. Makes sense and at a $1.5M cap hit for the rest of the year he's cheap. Flames get rid of him and the Ducks get a top 6 guy that can fill in for Blake.

Hopefully Hagman can bounce back in Anaheim, he's got the skill to do it

After claiming Maxwell, doesn't Anaheim go to the end of the line?

When you've got Selanne,Getzlaf,Perry and Ryan I think it's well worth it at half the price.

Its not like fantasy.

Its based on standings.

It doesn't work like that. Waivers don't reset. Prior to November 1st, waiver priority is based on last year's standings. After November 1st, it is based on current standings, with the team with the least percent of points earned having first priority. Columbus could take every waiver player first if they wanted to.

Go team Finland!! (Anaheim)

This might be really good for Hagman, playing with fellow countrymen might boost his confidence. The guy has heart and skill, just needs a positive bounce back to pick his game up.

Except most of us don't mind Stempniak. If we could get rid of Stajan, I think most of Flames nation would be content.

Hagman can bounce back. I think this is a excellent pick up for the Ducks, nothing to lose.

It's based on %-age of possible points earned - to account for differences in games played.

The Ducks were tied for 4th with Carolina.

Team GP Pts
Columbus 16 7 (22%)
Winnipeg 17 13 (38%)
NY Islanders 14 11 (39%)
Anaheim 17 15 (44%)
Carolina 17 15 (44%)

Calgary 16 15 (47%)

The important point is that getting rid of Hagman is better for the Flames than keeping him. The goal is not to keep players to make bad trades look better.

Well obviously, I don't think anyone is ignoring that point. It's still crazy to look at that trade now and see those results.

Anaheim haven't even bothered to give a Palmieri a shot this season (I know he was injured for a couple weeks before but he's healthy now), he's already a better winger than Hagman.

Desperation.

But i've always found him to have a pretty good shot. He'll help more than whoever else the Ducks are using to take Blake's place for the time being.

Amazing depletion in that organization's depth as of late. And Selanne/Koivu aren't going to last forever.

Fail for Nail?
