Well, Gill is sick and will not play today, which means both Weber and Emelin have to play D.
Gomez and Cammy are both clearly still playing hurt, so if one of them can't go after pre game skate, without the call up, that would leave them short a skater.. so makes sense..

Pierre really ****ed up. The one thing you can't take away from Gainey is that this team had some depth when he was around (if I'm not totally rewriting history here). Have never felt that way about Gauthier.
Engqvist is one of the most boring players i've seen in a while. He's 6'4" but doesn't throw a single hit, slow, no shot, no vision ..just blah and very boring.
I would rather call up a Dumont or something, but I think he is still injured.
Stange move, I guess they saw an improvement in his game lately and want to give him another shot.. I thought the guy would never play in the NHL again, well I guess I was wrong.. Hopefully he shows more speed, desire and more grit in his game, otherwise I dont understand that callup.
Like most of the guys we have in the minors. What a boring bunch of prospects, of course I'm not considering Leblanc, Tinordi or Beaulieu in that catagory. But after that we are freakin super thin!
Glad we cleared that up after 10 NHL games played in his career.
Love the Habs fans clamoring for a big defensive centre who can take some pressure off Plekanec by playing the PK...yet who have no interest in developping one themselves.
Then we'll let Engqvist go, he'll sign somewhere else, and we can all sit around saying "Gee we sure could use someone like HIM on on fourth line! Way to go, PG!".

I don't remember having Gainey's teams having so many problems with injuries. Also Gainey had the luxury of having prospects developing in Hamilton and being called up from time to time. Those who sucked GTFO'ed and the others graduated. Now the cupboard is empty but it will be full again next year as many promising prospects will join Hamilton.
I think what hurt the depth was drafting so many NCAA/College players. Instead of joining the farm after only 2 more years many are staying at school for an extra 1-2 years.
Maybe Nashville was so impressed with Gomez's play that the Habs are trading him for Webber so they are calling up Engqvist as the 5th center to sit in the box as a backup.
