Martinez to IR; Voynov Recalled

I would expect Voynov to be called up since the Kings will want a spare defenseman with the team. Depth is a wonferful thing, but can we slow down on the injuries now?

I'd be shocked if they didn't call up Voynov. Hickey hasn't looked that good from what I've read and Muzzin isn't the same type of guy (not that they have to call up the same type of guy).

Voynov just looked so good the first time, i don't see how you can't call him up.

No Voynov and no Loktionov? Man, I feel sorry for Manchester.

Hopefully we'll get the injury bug out of the way early this year. The Kings are a better team with Loktionov and Voynov in the lineup.

I hope Voynov and Loktionov are still in the lineup next week against Dallas. Watchnig Voynov live was an awesome treat. Scoring twice helps.

I would like to see Loktionov too.

We're getting swamped with injuries now. Kinda rough to finally get a good scoring game and then the whole team comes up ruined.

Johnson-Doughty
Mitchell-Voynov
Scuderi-Greene

It's time for LA's two best defensemen to play together. The Kings paired two young defensemen together almost 20 years ago when they partnered Alexei Zhitnik with Rob Blake, and I think it's time they kept this pairing intact. They are both capable of logging close to 30 minutes of ice time, both are extraordinary skaters and highly skilled.

Some may question their propensity for trying to many risky moves with the puck, but as highly skilled defensemen, I think we'll see less time spent by the Kings inside their own zone with those two on the ice.

Voynov was performing very well being paired with Willie Mitchell, so I'd keep those two intact. Then you have a strong third defensive pairing that is reminiscent of Norstrom-Miller. Scuderi and Greene is LA's top pairing on the PK unit and provides them with a strong shutdown pairing on the blueline.

ugh, i'm betting a-mart has a concussion. as soon as i saw that hit at the game on saturday i told my fiancée and dad that he was going to be concussed. his head whiplashed at least twice really hard and he didn't look too great getting up.

naturally i'm excited about voynov getting called up, too. but i feel bad for a-mart.

one can only dream of this set-up. That would be awesome though

That still has to be seen. They have never played a game together in the NHL yet, so to say the team is better with them is unproven and pure speculation to say the least.

I think you HAVE to keep Mitchy and Voynov together somehow. Even if it means pairing up JJ and Doughty.

I agree with this. Having two lefties together with Johnson and Scuderi would just be compounded if you put the two righties together with Voynov and Greene.

It's time for the left and right handed pairs to be complete.

Make it so...

Terry Murray saying that Alec Martinez could be out for a while. Although he did return to the game after he was hit from behind, it appeared to me that his head banged off the plexi-glass. Apparently there is some swelling as well, so he has a shoulder/neck injury and/or a concussion.

Yeah, it's really unfortunate for Amart and I hope he has a quick and full recovery. I'm just glad we have a guy like Voinov that can step up and fill the spot nicely.
