If he is put in a position to be a 4th line checker, he's not going to perform well - and it WILL be TM's fault

Hammond reported Martinez did not practice today. Maybe we will have a Russian duo soon....

I'm pretty sure TM has mentioned that Loktionov needs to be in a scoring role to be effective and has also mentioned numerous times that he performs better as a center. I fully expect him to center a line with Stoll on the wing and somebody else on the left side. Like I said, he'll probably get hurt anyway so it isn't really going to matter.

Alec Martinez is not practicing this morning, but Andrei Loktionov is, on left wing with Mike Richards and Dustin Brown. Here’s how the Kings’ forwards are lined up this morning, with five players in the fourth-line mix…

Gagne-Kopitar-Williams
Loktionov-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Stoll-Hunter
Moreau/Fraser/Richardson/Lewis/Westgarth

That second line could be sexy.

Loktionov wasn't playing wing because the Kings had Penner and Parse in the lineup/available. Loktionov was never competing against Moreau and Hunter. Loktionov will be sent back down when Penner comes off IR. Depth is key in the NHL.

Makes my day!

Now, will he be a 3C, 3LW or 2LW?

Healthy scratch perhaps?

He was also not at Tip-a-King yesterday because they said he was injured.

very good news and a great opp for him. now it's time to contribute

totally agree with DeeMeck. he needs to be the #3C. my gut though tells me they will try him on LW with Richards first though. if he plays the wing like last year he will get bumped down quick, but i think TMu will slide him into the #4 slot. I can't see him moving his golden boy Stoll down to the #4C role or even to LW on the #3. if he doesn't get at least 2-5 games in the #3C slot then once again it will show the mismanagement of personnel by TMu.

Based on what we have seen in the past I don't like it. Loktionov is not as effective on the boards as he is in the middle of ice making moves at the opposition's blue line. The kid needs to play center IMHO.

Only 1 goal this year in Manchester. Not even Murray/Lombardi can get away with that call up again.

Yeah, I think Nolan gets the call before King.

True, but Richards usually plays along the boards anyway. He and Brown rotate on the boards while Penner would just park himself in the slot. Loktionov will find a way to get open and Richards can set up some sick tap-ins and one-timers for Loktionov like he did for Johnson.

Judging from the impact of the hit that Martinez took on Saturday, he has a neck/shoulder injury or a concussion (hope it's not a concussion considering he returned to play and finish the game).

Voynov has to be called up so the Kings could send a defenseman on the ice to play with Stoll on the point on the 2nd PP unit.

Gagne-Kopitar-Williams
Loktionov-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Stoll-Hunter
Moreau/Fraser/Richardson/Lewis/Westgarth

Practice lines with Loki on wing with Richards. Could be electrifying considering their stick skills - especially on PP. The more Brown goes to the front of the net with those two cycling the more fun we'll have watching.

I think I'd prefer:

Gagne-Kopitar-Williams
Loktionov-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Stoll-Richardson
Moreau/Fraser/Hunter (like the size and speed, veteran grind line, maybe the odd goal)

Lewis / Westgarth - scratch

Martinez out? Voynov in?

Doughty - Scuds
Johnson - Mitchell
Voynov - Green

Why would you switch up the pairings? I don't see any reason for that.

Looks like you may have called it. If Martinez is on IR, I'd be surprised if Voynov isn't recalled.

I would much rather have Lewis in the lineup than Hunter.

A bottom six of:

Richardson - Stoll - Lewis
Clifford - Fraser - Moreau

Better, in my opinion.

Agreed. He's up. enjoy the moment and if TM screws up Loki's ice time/linemates/apartment then go get pissy. Loki's up, not spending the entire season in manchester like some on here said they expected, so enjoy it.

I say Stoll-Loki-Clifford. Skill and size to give Loki room. And really, Cliff needs to play more. Everyone on the bottom six is underperforming, so give the ice to a kid who could actually improve.

If Lokti does well, he just may force DL to make a move.

Nope. Loktionov will go back to Manchester when Penner/Parse are healthy.

Voynov was playing better than Martinez and he was sent back down. Martinez was just starting to come around and is now hurt.

No reason to get rid of the depth that makes these injuries easier to take. Why make a move to get rid of the depth? Having waiver exempt players like Loktionov and Voynov is a good thing.
