We already have this thread.

No need for another one.

My take...

http://www.stateofhockeynews.com/201...hty-ducks.html

Great 1st period, but blah 2nd and 3rd periods IMO. They will have to be better if they expect to beat a desperate Columbus squad on Tuesday. Our 1st line still looks pretty sluggish out there; lucky the 2nd and 3rd lines got things going offensively tonight. There is a Houston Aeros report, prospect updates on Nick Seeler, Zack Phillips, Anthony Hamburg and Darcy Kuemper. In addition there is a World Jr.A Tournament report as well. Lots of stuff. Enjoy!

Flawless wins are hard to come by. There will always be things to work on and improvements to be made. Appreciate the wins and hopefully we can leave this road trip with a winning record.

First in the NW division, who would've thought that at the start of this year, let alone the Oilers in 2nd.

As lame as it may sound...How about that fourth line?

Gillies was absolutely fantastic last night. He might not look like the 16th overall pick, but if he keeps playing like this, I don't know if I'd consider him to be amongst the infamous first round busts. That fourth line might have ended up saving us last night. There were at least two occasions where they pinned the Perry-Getzlaf line in their own end for an extended period.

Brodziak by far the best player of the game, and his line was great yet again. Cullen's line looked pretty good as well. Koivu's line had a few good shifts but again no ability to sustain any offensive pressure. Really sick of them.

Defense played pretty well and was very impressed with Stoner's play. Prosser and Falk each were noticeably good. Saw Zidlicky with a nice hit too, that was weird. Schultz is terrible on the PP.

But good to see this team respond to Yeo, even if they got really lucky with all those pipes.

It should be Falk over Schultz on the #2 PP.

Schultz shouldn't be on the PP, but I don't know that Falk is the guy to replace him with. We're already leaning on Falk for too many minutes (26 minutes in the LA game?!) and while he has that booming shot, he's not much for a passer. With our current personnel, I'd like to see Zid, Spurgeon, Prosser, and either Butch or Cullen on the blue line on the PP.

I would rather not see PMB on the point he will not shoot aways looking for the pass. At one point last night between him and Zids they wasted half the power play playing catch between the two of them, shoot the fricken puck. I know our options are limited but those two should never be out there on the point together ever!

How is Anaheim doing so bad? They have a ridiculous top six! Ryan, Getzlaf, Perry, Koivu, Selanne??? They looked fantastic last night, just hit too many posts.

Their problem is that they get zero scoring from their bottom six. No depth at all. And Ryan, Perry and Getzlaf are not scoring as much as expected this season. The only Ducks who have really been good this season are Fowler and Selšnne.

Not to mention Hiller isn't exactly playing on the level he needs to.

They've struggled early in the season the past few years. Probably a mindset deal in where the determination isn't there yet. They'll get better as the year goes along.
