Besides Heemskerk, are there any other Sharks prospects on the Thunder? Also, is there any sort of pattern to Heemskerk's starts? I need to know so I can decide whether to pony up for a Las Vegas Wranglers vs. Thunder game in town. Thanks!

EDIT: Never mind, conflicts with 49ers game.

and i have to look at Mitchell every game, and he was once the speedy college guy with the good numbers.
you should do some research on Nieto .. He fell for 2 reasons --
He stopped growing and was considered small at 5'11" ( McKensie) and ,

he was 17 when he started at BU and play regularly right from the start- had a very slow start to the season .. the 2nd half of BU season is when he came on and scored most of his points resulting in some doubting his grit (such as Redline)

but NO ONE doubted his speed, puck handling and hands.. just whether he could play up to the NHL physically

You need to look at the broken leg and crash Mitchell took in 08 , it took Mitchell a 1 1/2 yrs to get back on the ice even limited.. He was very fast at Vermont and his 1st yr in the pros and will probably never get it all back .. but that was an injury and they happen and blaming him or picking him in the draft is a mistake .. He was a great pick and especially for a bottom of the 4th round pick

the CHL Canada/Russia Challenge is this week and next. If you don't know, it puts what is essentially a Russian U20 team (generally composed of portions of their upcoming WJC team) against all-star teams of Canadian players from each of the 3 CHL leagues in a 6-game series.

Freddie Hamilton, Michael Sgarbossa, and JP Anderson were all named to team OHL. Hamilton will play in the Nov 10 game. Anderson and Sgarbossa in the Nov 14 game

Sean Kuraly scored the 1st goal for the US in it's 6-1 win over Canada West in World Junior A Challenge.

Mario Lucia (Tony's brother & a Minn. prospect) had himself a great game!

So I totally forgot to watch the game, but Freddie Hamilton has (to this point, with about half the 3rd period left) has a hat trick as team OHL leads the Russian team 7-6.

awesome.

The next game after this is, I believe, Monday and will have both JP Anderson and Micheal Sgarbossa in it.

Final Score
Team OHL 10, Russian Selects 7

Hamilton finished with 3 goals and an assist and was the game's leading scorer. He also took a slashing penalty and was +2 on the game.

Hamilton is going to have a shot to be good. I've only seen 3 of his games, but man does he remind me of Claude Giroux.

Wow Spin - way to set high expectations for the kid
I don't see the Giroux comparison but he could definitely turn into another late round gem for the Sharks.

Sean Kuraly scored another 2 goals yesterday, the US beat Russia 6-3.

Fast, creative, not big but works hard......

I mean, he reminds me at TIMES of him. I don't expect it. Was just trying to find a guy with a similar style.

HF's recap of the OHL/Russia game last night, including a pretty decent focus on Hamilton.

Pre injury Mitchell may the fastest player ever to play for the Sharks. He looked faster than Marleau even.

lol what? Mitchell was maybe the 4th fastest skater on the team pre-injury. He never looked faster than Marleau and was well behind him, Michalek, and Ehrhoff prior to the injury.

That's awesome. His description was just a "tough guy" and his stats last year did not prove otherwise; but it's nice to see him show off some offensive talent!

Ehrhoff had higher top end speed than Mitchell but he had a lot fewer chances during games to showcase that. Mitchell had quicker first steps than him though. That comment also ignores Devin Setoguchi who, I believe, was faster but that's debateable.

Sgarbossa scored the first 3 goals in the Wolves 6-3 win over the Storm. He also added an assist which was his 200th OHL career point. His stat line for the night was 3g - 1a - +2.

Ehrhoff was definitely faster. Ehrhoff was able to keep up with pretty much any forward in the league, and I would actually have put him slightly ahead of Michalek and just behind Marleau in top-end speed.

Nieto scored another goal against BC today, maintaining his GPG pace. Assisted by Coyle.

Heemskerk is now 4-0 (won another SO Sunday night).

Stockton has games Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week (all without leaving the state), so he should have at least two more starts.

Anderson not in net for today's OHL/Russia game.

Lame.

Sgarbossa is still in the lineup (and on the top PP unit as well)

EDIT: And he just picked up an assist on the game's 1st goal.

I think the OHL goalies are splitting the games, so JP will get the second half.

Here's a stream if anyone wants to watch: http://chl.insinc.com/canadavsrussia/index_high.html

My bad, no assist for Sgarbossa. It was a rebound tap-in, but they're counting it as an unassisted goal even though there was no change of possession of the puck.

EDIT: and now the goal has changed again to only give an assist to the guy who took the first shot. Not to Sgarbossa who set said player up for a one-timer.

He may not have gotten the assist earlier, but Sgarbossa just picked up a goal on a nice piece of forechecking.

This game is ugly!! Looks like Spooner's been in on all 5 goals? Is there a mercy rule in these games?
