Their could be giving up guys like Toffoli, Voynov and Forbot, but we are giving up Schenn, Couturier, and JVR? Ya...

But anyway, I dont want Nash.
I agree with you. Nash is not a good fit here. What is his cap hit? 7.5?

In all seriousness though, the more I see this team play, the more interested I am in seeing a trade of Schenn for a young defenseman of similar talent (assuming it can be done).

I have no doubts about Schenn's ability, but I don't want to see a thing change w/ the forwards right now the way the lines are working together.

Schenn will be needed as a top 6 replacement for Jagr next season.

I hate seeing these type of proposals on the feed... Nash is over rated, overpayed, and does not seem like a fit at all. We have the problem already of too many nhl forwards especially when schenn comes back... why add another one.

This team looks great and has great chemistry building, why mess that up?

1. You don't know Jagr isn't coming back for 1 more season. In fact, given the way he is playing, I almost expect that he will.

2. View the following:
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
JVR-Briere-Simmonds
Talbot-Couturier-Read

Don't see where Schenn is needed... We'd need a 4th line center, but that's easy enough to find. Hopefully someone who can take faceoffs... cause Talbot is best on the wing... particularly on the wing playing w/ Read and Cooter.

Doesnt talbot have 6 points in the last 7 games centering read and voracek.

Pretty sure some of those points came on cooter's wing. Read, Talbot, Couturier, Voracek all seem to work pretty well w/ each other... the point is, I just don't think Talbot is a 4th line forward. I think he belongs on the 3rd. And I like the idea of Talbot-Couturier-Read because it would be so beastly both offensively and defensively.

Something around Schenn + one of our current defensemen + picks for:

Tyler Myers of Buffalo
Erik Karlsson of Ottawa
Jonathan Blum of Nashville
Erik Johnson of Colorado

... I would particularly love the Tyler Myers route... I would instantly pair him w/ Pronger.

Buffalo has also been dying for a #1 Center for awhile (Or someone who can become one), and their team is deep defensively... So i think we'd make decent trade partners.

Schenn, a current dman and picks for one of those guys? I would not trade schenn straight up for any of them except for karlsson at this point let alone adding more.

Myers was a healthy scratch tonight, and while he had a good rookie year he has been very inconsistent ever since.

Schenn is an elite prospect with huge potential, lets not trade that away before he even gets a chance here. I would rather sign someone in the offseason rather than trade away our young blue chipper.

Schenn is definitely an elite prospect.. So are Myers, Karlsson, Johnson, etc. Myers had an excellent rookie year and was great down the stretch last year. He's still learning, which you should expect for a guy of his size, but he is much further along than Pronger and Chara were @ this stage in their careers.

With the tutilage of Chris Pronger, he would be great here.

Also, just a note, the + picks thing was only where needed... For instance you'd probably need it for erik johnson or karlsson.

At any rate, I'd definitely trade Schenn + Carle for Myers.

EDIT: By trading away Schenn and Carle and replacing Carle w/ Myers, you'd save a pretty penny next year and could be major players for a free agent forward (Zach Parise) if you so desire.

I would never trade schenn and carle for myers, and frankly would not do it just for schenn straight up. But I understand your thinking in the whole scheme of things.

It's always fun to fantasize about getting a player like Nash, or Ovechkin, or Mike York But it seems to me that if Homer was inclined to put together a package for a superstar it would be for something the team actually needs, like a young defenseman. Shea Weber says hello. (not that I think that would happen either, but it least it makes some sense).

I'd be interested in either, Suter might be more likely since he's due to become a UFA after this season and will likely be significantly cheaper. Weber would probably require some serious rearranging of the Flyers cap situation. But he'd be great to have.
