Shea Weber: Pry him away from Nashville

Nashville is in dire straits financially and when Weber was awarded 7.5 million in arbitration, the writing was on the wall.

Be realistic, be cap compliant, and keep in mind Weber is the type of premier # 1 defenceman that doesn't come around all that often. There will surely be a bidding war for him so prepare to overpay.

Not sure if you got the memo or not.. But Nashville's owner has said he will put up the money to resign all 3 (Rinne already resigned) as long as they are close to market value

So...just pretending that NSH doesn't re-sign him long term (like they say they are going to). They have LITTLE incentive to trade him this year as he's not a UFA until after next year...sooo why not just wait and step up to the table as a UFA with a big offer when the cap goes up and we lose some salary from our cap.

No trade needed.

By all accounts, money for him won't be the reason he leaves NSH.

I see Suter leaving Nashville before Weber does.. But if weber reaches UFA next year, he will recieve something we wont be able to give without moving a ton of salary

If we sign Weber when he does become a UFA it wouldn't be that bad cuz Kimmo's contract is up and that's 6.3 million right there that could go to a Dman. I heard before Kimmo said he was probably done after his contract runs out. I think it was euroflyers or something that had a interview with him when he said that. I could be wrong but i thought thats what he said

Weber is my favorite non-Flyer. Best playoff beard I've seen in a while. I'd be willing to give up what it takes to get him and pay him what he deserves.

Weber is due to become a RFA next year, Suter UFA:

http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=1...ary_cap_thou=3

I think that makes Suter a more likely target, if the Flyers want to go in that direction.

achdumeingute, you think Weber will be availble as UFA?

Weber is the closest player to Scott Stevens. Some lucky team will trade for him before he becomes UFA. That is if Preds are dumb enough to let him go.

What do you think Weber would cost in a trade?

1st - Schenn - One of our D prospects (Gus?)

for

Weber

More than that? I would do this deal in a heartbeat, but I honestly don't know what Weber would command. Nothing against Schenn (I plan on getting a Schenn jersey as my next jersey), but I think Nash would want a guy like him or Couturier.

To be fair, he started growing it early

Knowing Nashville, they'd want Couturier. NEED MORE DEFENSIVE FORWARDS.

But, id say thats about right for Weber

I dont see how NSH could allocated 7 mill to a goalie before focusing on weber. That is insane to me.

It kind of makes sense because Rinnie is UFA next season. What does not make sense why did they take Weber to arbitration.

Rinne wont be a UFA until 2019
And what are they going to do if they cant reach a deal before the arbitration window opens.. if they dont file, then offer sheets can pour in and possibly make Weber's salary go higher

Weber has a 1 year deal. You cant sign an extension until January if you are on a 1 year deal.
Also he is still a RFA, so they could take him to arbitration

Guess he meant he was a pending UFA when he signed the deal, no?

Well, not sure considering he said is instead of would have been.

I don't see the Flyers making a move for either player unless an injury occurs. When this defense is healthy they aren't as bad as everyone on here makes them out to be. I would like them to make the trade though. Maybe through in Carle and another pick instead of Schenn? Yeah right. Haha.

He's not worth anything. You have no idea if he wants to resign, and for how much.

Sorry, just posted that because you mentioned the possibility of Weber becoming a UFA in your previous reply.
