Buffalo-Carolina
To Buffalo:
C/LW Tuomo Ruutu
4th round pick in 2012
To Carolina:
RW Brad Boyes
CGY 2nd round pick in 2012
Buffalo gains a gritty top 6 center who could center Vanek/Pominville also gains the ability to move Leino back to wing
Carolina gains a scoring line mate for Eric Staal & Jeff Skinner.

I actually like this proposal. Well balanced and serves a need for each team.
Yea, I'd consider this proposal.

Not a chance in hell Carolina does this. Ruutu means too much to their team

No way does Carolina do this.
From a Buffalo POV, Tuomo Ruutu is exactly the kind of forward they need.

That trade makes Carolina worse. They don't do it.

First, Ruutu is not a center. Based on recent faceoff stats, Staal-Jokinen-Sutter are their top-9 centers. Second, I can't see Carolina doing this unless they really fall out of the race. Even then, given our history, I'm not sure they'd do this deal. Isn't it the case that we've never traded with them? Third, I'm not sure the difference between Boyes and Ruutu is the difference between a pick in the 35-40 range (where I think CGY ultimately finishes) and a pick around #100 (where I think CAR's 4th rounder ends up). With the former, you can get a good talent who just fell out of the 1st round. With the latter, you're taking much more of a longshot. I think that CGY 2nd rounder should either be kept in an effort to restock our forward cupboard, or traded for a player signed beyond this season.

Probably done from a Buffalo POV, but I don't think Carolina would do it.

My guess is that the Canes keep Ruutu until the deadline and sell him then. They'll get a better return than a move up from the 4th round to the 2nd then.

I would do this in a second - In fact I've suggested it a couple times myself. Carolina might be looking for a bit more lopsided deal in their favour, but even then it would still most likely be worth it.
Vanek-Roy-Pominville
Ruutu-Adam-Stafford
Ennis-Leino-Kaleta
Gerbe-Gaustad-McCormick
X. Ellis, Hecht[LTIR]
looks pretty good... pull the trigger Darcy!!!
And hey, maybe having another Finn on the team might help Leino out a bit... Could happen!

Go for glory...Eric Staal seems to need a major change of scenery.

Staal would be stupidly awesome to have. Impossible to get, but awesome nonetheless.

No, I meant not wanting Eric Staal (especially for those reasons).
