My 1st thought was Foligno.

Sounds like the #Sabres are going to have to recall a winger from Rochester. Cody McCormick isn't doing well. #Buffalo

Does it matter that he is a RW? I thought they would call up a LW.

Kassian is much hotter than Foligno over the last few games.

Kassian has 3 goals and 2 assists and is a +2 over the past 3 games.

Foligno has no points and is a +2 over the same timeframe.

That being said, I would expect Tropp to be back.

If we need someone, there's no reason for it to be anyone other than Tropp. And no, which wing it is doesn't matter enough to make the difference in who is recalled.

For a fourth line role with limited minutes, I'd say no. If we were looking for someone to play on a scoring line, I'd be more hesitant to call someone up on his offwing, but Tropp is there mostly for his physicality and grinding at this point, which isn't really wing-specific.

The other option is calling up a center like Szczechura and sliding Ellis to wing. But with McCormick out, I think you ideally want to get the physicality that Tropp beings and someone who may be willing to drop the mitts.

Having said that, if Foligno is doing well in Rochester I wouldn't be opposed to him getting the call since he'll bring the same kind of elements, but it should be merit-based, not position-based.

What's wrong with Cody?

Although I'd expect Tropp, I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if Kass or Foligno got a look. Just to get their feet wet.

Is this after-affects of getting his eye pounded open by Glass the other night?

I can't find where I read it, but I remember reading somewhere that McCormick was sick and that's why he wasn't out there in the 3rd last night when Lindy shortened the bench.

Edit: Found it!

Roy-Vanek-Pominville: Ruff went to it to get something going. Good call. He always has it at his disposal. He went to three lines in the third period with Cody McCormick ill. Ruff said he might keep it. Of course, with him that means for a period.

Oh! Thought he had been playing poorly or something. I guess I'm glad to hear it's just illness, hope he gets better soon!

Throwing Roy with Vanek and Pominville was a good move, though. That pretty much won the game for Buffalo.

+1

He rolled the dice on flipping Adam and Roy and it worked out as well as could be expected.

The interesting thing to watch is whether Ruff keeps Roy between Vanek and Pominville and basically put all his offensive eggs in one basket or if he tries to spread things out a bit and switch Adam back on the top line.

I would love to see Kassian get a shot. Everyone seems to think he is NOt ready. I would love to see this kid get a chance next game and score a goal and add an assist in his first game with the Sabres.

Agreed. Kaleta has played LW (though more RW). Or they could call up a center (Szczechura) and push Ellis over. I kinda wonder if Derek Whitmore is going to be the guy though.

Yeah i wouldn't mind seeing Kassian, i liked how he played during the prospect tournament. Though i hope it is for only one game, i'm not too keen on the politics.

Though my dumb ass roommate clipped a section from the newspaper that has my refrigerator intimidated by truth like a scene from 2001 A Space Odyssey.

So i can feel like i am less of a fan each time i open the fridge. What the national media says, well I want my misery!

Kassian isn't ready. Should be and will be Tropp.

I would give Kassian until at least January before a call up.
