A shame we traded Weise, so I can't make my "now he can learn to eat punches with his face from the master" joke. . Either way, fine move. Guy should be alright in the AHL and he's good friends with Avery.....and two of our other superstars.
I hope it's nothing more than a favor to a player who needs to play himself into shape. However, I would be less than thrilled if he was actually signed to a contract (even an AHL one). The organization needs more skill, not another marginal grinder.

LOL...Maybe a couple of more skilled grinders would help !!!
He is a great teammate and very close to both Avery and the king. Hank and Voros hangout a lot so this must be a favor signing. the guy tries hard and always stuck up for his mates not his fault he was a million dollar Sather baby.. good vet for the kids down on the farm
Good. Friends with Brad/Hank/Sean. Vet presence down there, plays hard so he can probably still be mildly successful in the AHL. I know he'd have to be on an NHL deal, but when we bring up a lot of people come playoff time, I'd like him to be included.
Former Ranger Aaron Voros will skate for the AHL Whale under a 25-game PTO (professional try-out). The winger spent two seasons with the Blueshirts before being sent to Anaheim during the summer of 2010 for Steve Eminger. The tryout will give all NHL clubs a chance to look at and sign Voros.
I think Voros is a Newport Sports client. Same agency as Richards,Lundqvist,Girardi,MDZ,Prust,Christensen,E minger,AveryWoywitka,Zuccarello and Redden. The Rangers do a lot of business with Newport.
So if I call Sather will I get a tryout too?? He isn't needed for the Whale...hopefully it works out, at least he doesn't cry when he gets scratched.
Its no problem. Call MSG and get the number for Slats (its probably very easy, just make something up). Then call him and say:
-Hi Slats!
-Its Steve Rucchin [or some old vet you kind of look like] here. I've been hitting the gym alot lately and is feeling better then ever. Can I get a shot in HFD?
-Sure. We could always use another capable centericemen.
And then you just go to HFD and do your best. It could turn into a real cinderella story if you actually play well enough to make some noise and get a shot in the NHL and Steve Rucchin (or whoever you picked) finds out about it and blow your coverege, and nobody will know what to do with you.
I say got for it for sure!!! (and let us know how its going)

Sather does many things I disagree with, but he has been very kind to former players looking to get back to the NHL...some guys who never played for his teams...as long as it isn't taking a spot from a developing "yoot" I have no issue with it.
I suspect that having been a journeyman player himself, he feels some kinship with a guy like Voros.

Agreed. We catch flak for banishing veteran players for the AHL and paying their fat salaries. At the same time, we do things like this pretty regularly. In balance, I think we're very good to the players.
