Missed the game, recap it for me. Are we all solidly on the Fire Sacco train still?

Avs dominate the first period with Duchene pulling off the sickest goal I've seen this year.

Avs let their guard down and let Pittsburgh back into it.

The wheels fall off and they beat us until we resemble something like a wet prune.

We lost to arguably the best team in the NHL...oh the horror. This team is obviously destined to see their first overall pick be used by the Washington Capitals to draft Yakupov.

Holy crow. Not even 20 games into the season and people are getting silly.

i know many are inclined to blame this lose on the goaltending, but judging from last year it is obvious now that our defensive system sucks. craig anderson went to ottawa and is playing great now. Brian elliot looked like a pylon with us but is killing it right now in stlouis. get a new goalie coach and a whole new coaching staff before we kill any confidence varly has. How much more S*** do we have to go through til we get what we want this is effin ridiculous

They've also lost to a very bad Calgary team every single time they've faced them this year. They've also won, what, twice in regulation? Yeah...we're pinning our anger on ONE GAME.

We didn't just lose to "arguably" the best team in the NHL, we imploded. Gave up five unanswered goals in the third.

And this stretches back to last season as well. We have a right to be pissed, and we have a right to demand better from this squad. If you think that's silly, have fun in the land of gumdrops and rainbows and unicorns.

Yeah, it's not just one game. How is it possible that this team can't win one against one of the worst teams in Calgary? And how does a team get a 3-1 lead and allow five unanswered goals? Let's also mention the awful performance against Detroit and Phoenix.

Ya, it's not like we were on a roll up until this game and just lost to a good Pens team. We've been on a tail spin for a bit now & this game was us crashing into a brick wall.

We have former 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall picks. We'll have to work on #4 next season. Unless we can trade for one.
If you wouldn't mind having a lottery team, then you wouldn't mind the decade, or more, of being terrible that it requires to build one.

unfortunately, tanking for a lottery pick is not an option for this season,
Caps have our 1st round pick, remember?

Tanking should NEVER be an option, with or without a 1st round draft pick in the equation. It's a loser mentality that does nothing but encourage a culture of losing. Ask the Islanders how it's worked out for them.

Since the Avs joined the league the Penguins have missed the Playoffs 4 times. 1990 was the last miss before that.

Number of Lottery Picks per team last night: 3 for the Penguins and 3 for the Avalanche.

Sure, just completely ignore that the Avs were the Nordiques, and it took a solid decade and a half of sucking for them to build a championship team. Also, the Penguins picks were stars from the beginning, and a whole different level of hockey player than what the Avs have gotten during their recent bottom feeding.

I didn't ignore it, I gave an example of doing it in much less time. I didn't see a need to point out that the Avs cup team was basically a lottery team.

Fair point certainly. That's just luck. It's not like the old owner and GM planned on going bankrupt and selling the team/getting fired so that the new owners/GM could enjoy this team now.
