We need someone big on the right side (been saying that since April) and no matter how bad Komi has been playing, a second journey with the General might just be what the doctor ordered for Komi.

For the life of me can't understand why Burke would want Gomez. Take it for what its worth.
I don't really see the benefit of doing that...much higher chance that Gomez goes there and plays well and it bloows up in our faces. I would prefer the 09-10 Gomez to getting those two bad contracts.
hrm.. I think our defensive system might make komi look a little better than he is.. I guess there's also the prospect of not having to play him once everyone would return... Interesting anyway, Gomez does seem a whole lot less important now.

The advantage is having one of those bad contracts finishing after next season(Lombardi @ 3.5) and the other Komi at the same time as Gomez. Basically we get an extra 3.5 million to play with after next season

He has a modified NTC - where he gives a list of 10 teams at the beginning of the year if I remember correctly.
lombardi would fit well i like to think. local boy to boot
while komi's fighting skills are overrated (at least he used to think he could), his hitting abilities are not. and i'd like to see him and markov together again, just for ***** n giggles.
about the same cap hit though, although lombardi is off the books next year.
from the leafs side, i don't know, kessel is a very good player and no doubt gomez would help him - especially considering the run and gun style wilson is using. but that's just my guess.... who knows, he might turn out to be balls in toronto too
