It's 2 not 4 years the same as the ones he would trade so if the Leafs feel right now Franson is better why wouldn't they trade Komi and make room for Franson?

They might trade Komi...But not to Montreal, and not for Gomez.

I'm not sure what you've tried to accomplish, but I wouldn't touch it unless komi was going to the minors, I doubt that's what PG would have in mind, so it's a no thank you from me.

Where do I sign.

Komi scored yesterday...he must be a new man now.

wait for it..

Truth be told though I'd take him back. Doesnt matter that he got traded to the Leafs, people make this out to be wayy to personal, if he's willing to play here with all his heart why not.

If it indeed aired on TSN990, the beat and rumor guys are probably consulting their sources at the moment. Those active on twitter are as fast shooting down others' rumors as they are breaking their own.

Rumor that doesn't really make sense.

I'm just going to throw a wild guess and say; Tony Marinaro. Right?

Yeah, no.

Sry bro, jokes/sarcasm are often hard to detect with written words. I thought you were trying to point out a contradiction in my post or something.

My bad.

2) Lombardi is currently better than Gomez and would be a better fill in if Desharnais, Eller or Plekanec get hurt.

3) Lombardi is UFA at the end of this season.

We lose a player at one position and gain a better player at that position while simultaneously taking on an overpaid player who has the same term as Gomez but with far less cap hit and actually addresses an organizational need.

How in the **** does this deal "not help"? You make it sound as if we have one of the top defensive units in the NHL.
Lombardi's contract ends in 2013.

Unless Burke is stupidly drunk, no way is he trading for Gomez. He is the opposite of what Burke always claims to want.

But if it would work, I'd gladly buy Burke a few rounds and make this trade before he sobered up.

THIS TRADE RUMOUR MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL!

Seriously guys, if you had watch toronto games lately, Komo plays like he was before. Not just one game, but at least 2 weeks. Since he has been in Toronto, its the first time that he's actually healthy and I feel that he can fill a role in the top 4. Even if the trade was just Komo vs Gomer, i'll still do it in a heart beat.

It would be insane to have a Komo-Subban pair

Surprised? They rarely ever do.

But they're fun!

You won't

they both play on the right side, and are only good on that side.

this better be a joke... Gomez is on pace for 9 assists

This team can't afford to lose a play-making center

And Fwiw I would take Komo back in a heart beat. I look at our defense and hes a type of player we are sorely missing. A big rugged guy that will clear the crease. Put him back with Markov and let them find their old chemistry.

I'm not sure what to think of Lombardi, let me search the Leafs and Habs GDT's from after he scored against us and then I'll make up my mind.

That's what I mean though, I don't think this was ever said on the air. There are exactly two mentions of this on Twitter one hour after the OP said he heard it on the TSN990. Usually when a rumour is on the radio, listeners flood twitter with what they just heard.
