MARINARO: HABS RENEW RIVALRY WITH HURRICANES

The two organizations have developed quite a rivalry after meeting in the 2002 and 2006 playoffs. On both occasions, Carolina advanced in 6 games. Prior to last season, The Hurricanes enjoyed a lot of success versus the Canadiens and forward Erik Cole was a Hab killer picking up 25 points in 28 games vs Montreal.
Now, Cole is on the other side wearing the bleu-blanc-rouge. After a slow start, the forward has found that extra gear with his new team., and has developed great chemistry with linemates David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty.

HABS' BLUELINERS WILL BE TESTED AGAINST HURRICANES ON TSN

The Canadiens' blueline has taken more than its fair share of hits this season, with Andrei Markov and Chris Campoli already on the shelf. With Hal Gill likely sidelined tonight with the flu and Jaroslav Spacek watching from the press box with an upper body injury, the team called up defenceman Frederic St. Denis from Hamilton of the American Hockey League.
With St. Denis on the back end playing his first NHL game, the Canadiens will have only one defenceman - Josh Gorges - who's over the age of 25 and has over 100 regular season games under his belt. The rest of the blueline will be made up of sophomores P.K. Subban and Yannick Weber and rookies Alexei Emelin and Raphael Diaz.

Hurricanes-Canadiens Preview

In the midst of a five-game road losing streak, the Hurricanes head up north to Montreal and the Bell Centre, where they have had a great deal of success over the past few seasons.
Once on the other side of that good fortune, Canadiens forward Erik Cole is now tasked of slowing down his former Carolina mates in tonight's meeting, just his second ever against the club that originally drafted him.
