I think the Kings are always talking about trades but none of this sounds all that likely. Why on earth would we trade away depth when it's the first time in decades we actually have it?
Both Brown and JJ have signed long-term team friendly deals. You're never going to get that level of quality per dollar in a trade. We all know that Quick v. Bernier is a decision that's going to have to be made, but not yet. We've another whole year before one or the other gets the long-term contract so why rush it? We're 20 games into the season and throwing away cheap quality depth seems to be just asking for problems.
We've had 3 guys on the top-6 miss games this year already and 2 d-men. We aren't 20 games into the season. I think we should keep what we've got. We're going to need it. Depth has a tendency to just disappear...
Was deciding between journalism and business major in college. This was pre-widespread internet use (92).
Glad I didn't choose journalism because the industry (not just sports) would be 99% clowns that claim to be "journalists" just because they have a website

These are very good points. Realistically, Brown and Johnson probably aren't going anywhere. However, Lombardi has shown in the past that he will trade a player not too long after signing him to a long-term contract. Unless the return is a future hall-of-famer, I just don't see these guys being moved.
A lot of people like to throw around Bernier as well. I don't see Bernier going anywhere this season. It could potentially blow up in Lombardi's face. Bernier isn't really available until Quick is signed long-term.
Quick is a UFA after next season, and Bernier is an RFA after next season. If he trades Bernier and Quick decides to sign somewhere else we are screwed. Bernier is the security blanket if Quick decides to skip town. If Quick is signed long-term early in the season or offseason, then Bernier becomes a hot trading piece at that point.
I would imagine by 2013-2014 Jones, Zatkoff, or Berube would be ready to go as an NHL back-up to Quick, and Bernier can kill us wherever he ends up. Hopefully back east.
This stems from the Kings reportedly having scouts present at the Boston/New Jersey game. Of course the pro scouts were probably monitoring the players in Monarchs for a call up and were within proximity to catch an NHL game and someone is going to start spreading rumors that they're talking trade.
makes no sense for us to do this, besides its the 110 report, who are they kidding lol, they are big on basketball and baseball, and now that the nba has been cancelled, all of a sudden they have become knowledgeable about hockey? I rather waste my time watching curling on espn.
It was too much $$$ for DL back then, doubt that it's changed. As good as he is, that ship has sailed. NJ would never take what we would could offer, anyways.

Seriously. It's like, you're a blogger. NOT A JOURNALIST. Get off your high horse. Unless you are getting press passes to the games, sitting in the box, get paid by the Kings, the LA Times, or some other major publication...you aren't a journalist.
You're just like me. A guy with a platform and an opinion about Kings ****.
I always laughed at how like half of LGK (god love it for what it is) acted like Matt Barry and Bernstein were credible sources of info.
Everything on the internet should be taken with a grain of salt in sports.

I completely agree with this, but for the record, Bernstein does have press cred and sits in the press box.
Bernstein - member of Professional Hockey Writers Association, votes for all major awards like Hart and Norris because of it and is on radio in Canada weekly in Montreal and now TFP show on XM/Sirius. Seems pretty mainstream to me not like Kings of Hockey. LOL
