Franson is an average defenseman in this league. Nothing special. I'm sure some Leafs fans will blow this guy up and say he's better than average and that he's worth Burke's asking price.

What expiring contracts are out there that could be possible deadline acquisitions on the forward front?

Olli Jokinen (Nope)
Vinny Prospal
Ales Hemsky (Not a fan)
Marco Sturm
Brad Boyes (Recently dealt)
Jordan Tootoo ( I expect Nashville to make playoffs)
Andrei Kostitsyn (same, but rumors have been swirling about him)
Ray Whitney (Needs a walker)
Shane Doan (Yeah, fat chance)
Arnott+Langenbrunner (I'd rather neither)

Michael Grabovski (Intriguing. Can play LW)

I think Whitney would be perfect. Sure he's old but he's been amazingly productive no fewer than 55 points since the lockout (in 63 games). On pace for 30-46 = 76 points right now.

Of course I've wanted him since Bure was here.

Doan then iggy but they would cost us more than their worth. either one vaults us to top 5 at the end of the season because of their passion for winning. although doan at the moment is the only one winning.

Btw, Iginla isn't an expiring contract. He's still got 1 more year left on his deal.

for some reason I see Hensky as the target. Vinny would be the cheapest option

with the list below I would love Ruutu

I think you can infer from Oil Change that the Rangers tried to get Hemsky at the deadline this past year. Wouldn't blow me away if Slats tried to acquire him. Expiring contract. Depends on how the oil look at the deadline (and how we look at the deadline) and his health. Slats won't pay through the nose though.

How about provide a source then, because if anything has been said it's that Iginla is NOT being traded and that there has been zero talk about it, except for speculation by members of the media. Burden of proof is on you chief.

edit: Also I watched that entire game, no such claim was made.

How about watch the game again chief. joe micheletti obviously states this to sam rosen during the game i dont have to prove anything i watched the game i heard the remark and stated it on the forum. He will be shopped. He probably already is being shopped.

Apparently you're the only one who heard that because the only thing that's ever been said by Feaster/Sutter is that they are NOT trading him and he has never been approached to waive his NTC. You can even take one look at that team and logically deduce that.

Sam and Joe speculating is not a source.

And usually when somebody makes a statement, it's up to that person to prove said statement. That's how it works. Evidence.

I'm pretty sure Iginla is not being shopped and that there has been no public comments from the Flames or a reputable media outlet stating they were considering moving him. The only issue has been about him re-signing to a new deal but that doesnt necessarily mean he is being shopped.

They had 5 minute segment on Parise last night on Versus as to whether the devils will shop him or not. Milbury believes they should move him now. However this is the same man who put the Islanders organization on the path to ruins.

Is there anyway to get Rick Nash here?

I'm not usually one to do trade proposals, and I'm not about to start now, but I just read this article, and I wanna get everyone's opinion: What WOULD it take to get Rick Nash to the Rangers, get the Jackets out of the final 6 years of that deal, and put an elite talent like him on a team that is building towards Stanley Cup contention and actually has a chance to win? Would the Jackets even think about it? And is he worth what we may have to give up?

Honestly..your best best chance of seeing Rick Nash at MSG is when Columbus is in town.

I don't see anyway to get him here without destroying the current roster. Then again I'm not the GM.

Nash would have to request a trade. In that scenario, could Del Zotto (if he plays well) top forward prospect, plus a couple picks between rd 1-3 make CBJ think? I would certainly consider something in that ballpark as NYR.

Nash is exactly the type of guy they could use up front. Guys like Hemsky & Whitney are very redundant if Stepan keeps developing and playing well. Rangers need to be able to play defense first in the playoffs, and be tough enough to take a beating. Too many midgets will not help against Boston or Philly.
