The Morrisonn Rally Thread

I realize that i am missing a great deal of the story about Morrisonn but that is why i started the topic.

He is playing in rochester for financial reasons but why was that decision made over guys like weber and gragnani? Of course its easy to see that gragnani has team speed and passing abilities, however i thought that Morrisonn played exceptionally well for a strong period of time.

The team had thought highly enough of him to pair with Myers. The additions on defense have all been beyond my expectations. Morrisonn got my attention in washington and that wouldn't have happened unless he had more potential then a six Defensemen.

When we signed him i never thought development project.

I just feel that there is a lot to say about the topic. And that Morrisonn is a difficult player to play against.

Weber outplayed him last season, and Grags did as well when he was called up.

It's about the money, yeah, but only because ShaMo really was the #8 here.

I don't get the point of this thread.

$2,075,000 > $950,000
$2,075,000 > $550,000
$2,075,000 + at least $525,000 for a #7 > $1,500,000

He's just not good enough to justify moving any other pieces to make room for him.
Simple as that.

well it sucks. for his style of play, he was as good of an addition as leopold. They add regehr and ehrhoff for experience. We finally would of had some depth.

No. Trade Grags and some salary for a stay at home top four defenseman (or just Leopold, but I'm not messing with his leadership role just yet) or something, but the dollars aren't worth giving ShaMo another chance at just being a steady, bottom pairing type of guy. Also, we'd have to put him on reentry, and given how he's played in the AHL and his UFA status, I'm not sure if he'd even make it to us. And we'd get stuck with half his cap hit if he got claimed. There's no reason to see Shaone until the playoffs.

He sucks. You couldn't give him away to the other 29 teams. Even if 4 defense men get hurt would I want to see him play. Due in large part to the aforementioned suck.

Every team in the league had a chance. Nobody wanted him.

That should tell you everything you need to know.

This is one of the more ill-advised rally threads. And I love rallies.

Meh. He's not THAT bad. #8 for the Sabres, sure. Top Dman for the Amerks, yes. I'm sure some team out there would give him a chance looking for defense depth in the 5-6 spot.

ShaMo hasn't been the Amerks #1 D from what I've seen and read.

From a stats POV, McNabb has been the most productive Amerks D with 8 pts and a +5. McNabb's 8 pts is tied with Ryan Ellis for second best in the AHL amongst rookie D.

For... financial reasons.

Like stated, $2M+ > less than $1M. They were tight against the cap.

Also, Gragnani wouldn't have made it through waivers.

Grags has a 2-way deal last I heard. Making him waiver exempt.

That is false.

2 way deals specify different salary earned at the NHL and AHL levels. They have nothing to do with waivers.

Its true. And it would be stupid to loose gragnani. There may not be another gragnani in the pipe line, i guess at this point its just good that we have myers and ehrhoff long term.

Morrisson isn't very good.

That said, I will agree that this team needs more defensemen that play a simple game. It appears to happen too often that we lose the puck in the offensive zone and the opposition breaks out with an odd-man rush. It happens at an extraordinary rate on the powerplay and happens quite a bit at even strength, too.

That could come down to system flaws. Lindy's gotta fix it, or the defensemen on this team need to keep it simple.

Speaking of physical blueliners, apparently Tim Gleason's terrible last season has carried over into this year. He's got the Olympic connection that I think has been in the back of Darcy's mind since Vancouver, and could be a solid addition to the blueline.

If he's playing terrible, why add him?

So...you're advocating that Darcy pick up a crappy player? I confused.

Change of scenery/the problems in Carolina are way deeper than Tim Gleason/he wouldn't be playing shutdown minutes here unless he and Regehr developed chemistry.

I guess it would be an interesting reclamation project.

What's his salary?
