Franson playing instead of a healthy Dman is coaches choice, and shouldn't require injuries to insert better players if available.

we desperately need size in the forward department and omark is going in the completely opposite different direction and he ain't a parise that can be a 5'11 - 5'10 and knock people on their *****.
If we are to deal franson it should be for a top 3 player while adding some pieces.
Seriously guys, this isn't NHL12. Negotiating is about back and forth. If the Leafs got a first offer that included a player and a pick, Burke would be stupid to accept it. No one and I mean no one ever should take the first offer. It should only get better through negotiations. As well, leaking this to the media means that they are letting other teams know where the starting point is. Hell, the Oilers tweet is actually logical if you think about it in comparison.
Sometimes you better accept the first offer and hope the other GM doesn't wake up before the paperwork is filed with the league...
i just dont understand the hatred toward franson. He has only had one bad game on the few opportunties he has had, the game in boston. Give the kid a chance and he will be solid for you. I am totally prejudiced cause i have sharpened his skates since he was 4 yrs old. And yea, I wouldnt have traded him for that package, what would it have done for us? Omark is a downgrade on kadri and the second round pick might play for us 3-4 years. I would trade franson though for a good forward prospect with size.
Hindsight's 20/20, he's too valubable now to trade if Komi is out for an extended amount of time, Lashoff's injury also hurts. A lot of depth to a scarcity if these guys keep falling.
Why are people thinking Omark for Franson is a good deal? That probably one of the worst deals Ive ever heard for young sought after defensive talent. Omark isnt even playing for Edmonton. Omark really isn't that good. He's just good with his hands, dangling and spinning into nowhere. I don't see him being anything more than a 2nd/3rd line tweener which is a decent hockey player but its not worth trading Franson for IMO and when healthy, we're fine at forward.
