It will be a terrific night. A well-deserved honor for a member of that era.

The Hall induction was the exclamation point.

He maintains a residence in New Jersey.

So, now we know what exactly the qualifications are to having your number retired here.

So i guess its safe to say Jagr will be retired here?

Also, if Lindros is inducted, do you think the burnt bridges will be fixed and have his number retired?

I think their secretly retiring #2 for Lukas Krajicek. Mark Howe is just a decoy to keep us from knowing the truth.

They would be fixed by his appearing at the Winter Classic.

However, if he gets into the Hall of Fame, I assume his number would go up as well.

In my opinion the only other players who should be considered to have their jersey retired are Hextall and Lindros. I'm not even sure I'd do that.

I'd do Lindros. I wouldn't do Hextall.

Lindros I would do. I maintain the argument that if Cam Neeley has a place in the hall, Lindros should have one.

As I predicted in this Forum way back it will be at the Wings games... Iknow, I know, a no-brainer haha... and I'm expecting a grand display by both the Flyers and Detroit. I will be at that game and sporting a #2 jersey... The question is whether I wear my Hatcher Black Flyers jersey or my Hatcher Team USA Olympic one. I want to honor Howe though the number... any suggestion with reasoning on which I should choose?

I agree that Lindros should be next. Nobody else is going to wear that number on a Flyers jersey.

What about Lindbergh? It's been unofficially retired since his death.. Think they retire it sometime?

No, I don't... due to the relatively low amount of achievements, largely based on his inability to raise them because of his untimely death... and the nature of that death... I, as well as many others I've read/heard, believe the Flyers will never officially retire the number, but it will never be issued again in this Organization, IMO.

Had he lived and played longer or had he put up numbers that could not be denied, there might be an argument... but as it is, it would be hard for the Flyers to reward his lack of judgement and dangerous actions with such a major acknowledgement (officially).

This is well-deserved.

I'd wish they'd just officially retire Pelle's # as well.

Lindros has a better than even shot at being inducted in the Hall, making 88 a possibility down the road. LeClair, Brind'amour, Desjardins, & Hextall are the only other guys right now that have a shot in hell.

Wow. Well deserved, Mark.

Break of tradition, but good for Howe.
