Todd Marchant - pre-game video?

Are they planning on doing any sort of video presentation for Marchant similar to what they did for Doug Weight? I would think that the relationship between Lowe and Marchant might hurt the chances, but I feel it would be a classy move by the Oiler organization if they would do something like that for him.

With Weight, everyone gave him a very deserving standing ovation after the video which was highly appropriate, but then boo'd him during the game. I feel the same would happen for Marchant, but I would still like to see a video presentation for him.

Which didn't really surprise me. He and Lowe didn't actually part on the best terms.

Still it would have been classy of the organization to put that behind them and honour him. He was an Oiler for a long time.

Guys, you don't put together a video for your former 3rd line center when he comes back after leaving via free agancy. Christ,if i'm not mistaken they only guy they did it for was Weight. They never did it for any of the Hall Of Famers so why on earth would they do it for Marchant? Weight was at least our go to guy....Marchant was our checking line center.

Than why did they present Buchberger with a stick? Yes he was team captain but he was never more than a third line player.

bucky got the stick because he was the captain, and didnt leave for more money... i seem to recall that he was *very* upset when he got taken on waivers as well.... im not saying that marchant wasnt a good oiler, but he was not in the same league as bucky IMO

So a guy left unprotected on waivers gets more consideration than a guy given a one-year contract guaranteed to make him a UFA? I don't see it - I think Marchant should have had a video dealie after 10 years of pretty good play for this team, the fans could have cheered him, the game could have started then and the booing commenced...

The nail has just been hammered home with your post, Bart. Had that 3rd period goaltender interference call been overlooked, Toddy would have had that "I told you so" game MacT commented that Todd could have if he was allowed "time and space" and was allowed to use his speed. We dodged the proverbial bullet last night, even if it was clearly a penalty that put Tommy out of positon.

Marchant has been everything an Oiler is supposed to be. Hardworking, fast and willing to do whatever is needed to win the game. After spending most of his career here as a defensive specialist he stepped it up and contributed some offense last year as well.
I guess you could make the point that he left on somewhat less the friendly terms, but c'mon, if you were pigeonholed as a career 3rd liner and then had the oppotunity to make a huge score salary wise, wouldn't you take it?
Like Barto said, hes been here for almost 10 years, a rarity in the nhl these days. Not only that but I submit that Marchant scored the last HUGE goal in the Oiler's modern history (The winner in Game7)
