Shootin' Blanks

The Good -

- Lots of early chances
- Adam's line rewarded early.
- Regehr showing up for his defense partner after Torres left his feet.

The Bad -

- Enroth
- Shooting blanks -- Vanek, Boyes, Stafford, Leino, and even Kaleta had chances throughout the game and either didn't cash in or didn't even shoot the puck. Ugh.

The Ugly -

- If Myers is hurt, that puts Brennan into the lineup with the rest of these tools.

Great thread title.

So correct on the Leino, Boyes, Stafford line.

Not only are they being paid handsomely to put in a good effort, they are being paid to light the lamp.

Mission NOT accomplished.

Good effort, but this is pro sports where results are what really counts.

Good: ... Boyes, Tropp, Myers (minus one play), Leino

Bad: Enroth, Erhoff, Not being able to win at home

Ugly: Giving up a goal from the blue line with no screen.

Brutal.

Hopefully they bring up McNabb instead.

Boyes does not deserve to have Leino and Stafford on his line to carry around. I don't care how "hard" Leino played, he's been a black hole.

I wouldn't mind seeing him with Vanek-Pominville and put Roy back with Leino-Stafford. Eh. Still too much "lite" in the top 6.

I disagree entirely. Leino has played very well as of late.

Ruff calling out the scorers for not scoring on their chances. Absolving Enroth of the loss, laying it at the feet of the empty-net missers.

Hard to disagree with Lindy.

You have to bury these chances.

We got knocked out of the playoffs last season because Stafford didn't bury that chance in game 6.

Missing great opportunities most always come back to haunt a team.

Will be interesting to see how Vanek reacts to this. A couple of seasons ago, I'd think this would kill his confidence (it is kind of a shot at him). But now...maybe it fires him up.

Actually managed to watch the entire game.

The Good:
-Gerbe-Adam-Tropp
-Ellis-Gaustad-Kaleta as a whole
-Effort from 23-22-21
-Leopold with two assists
-Winning draws (however...)
-The number of scoring chances...

The Bad
-...but they weren't converted into actual goals
-Untimely defensive gaffs (see Myers, third goal)
-Losing draws at bad times
-VRP was pretty invisible
-Myers likely injured, though I was kicked off the postgame by my lovely family, so I'm sure I've missed the news by now.
-The third goal in general
-Being out-hit by however much it was during the 1st intermission

The Ugly
-"Taylor Pirate" Thanks Harry
-The use of "BizNasty" by Sabres announcers
-The empty-netter

The Frustratingly Good
-Smith's goaltending

The....yeah
-Enroth

Cue the "Enroth picked up a bad attitude from Miller" tweets/articles from TBN.

He did the "Miller-shrug" after the first goal too! We should be really concerned now!

No he didn't. He looked skyward, seems like he's putting more blame on himself. He let in 3 softies, very disappointed with his game, VRP can't sustain any zone time, SBL need to score goals. Love Tropp Adam and Gerbe that line is bomb.

And one of those victories came in Europe, meaning their winning percentage at FNC is 40%. Pathetic.

Good:
*Ellis, Gaustad and Kaleta
*21-22-23 creating tons of chances
*Leopold and Regeher
*1st. period

Bad:
*Not putting the game away when they had the chance
*While they have created a lot of chances, 21-22-23 really need to start scoring
*Vanek, Roy and Poms

Ugly:
*The second period

Bottom line: our top 6 forwards didn't score any goals...... end of story.

Ugly: Roy losing the draw on the face off on the power play in the 3rd, Stafford and others standing around watching instead of getting after the puck and Yotes clearing the zone and scoring in spite of a 6 on 4 Buff advantage.

Spend less time complaining to the linesman about opponents positioning and win the frickin faceoff!
