Yakupov won't have to deal with the "clutch and grabbing" like Bure had to put up with. Breath on a guy and you likely get a minor penalty nowadays.

Well it looks like Bure can kiss his chances of going to the HHOF. Quinn is currently on the Selection Committee as co-chair:

And now according to Elliotte Friedman - Maple Leafs president and GM Brian Burke will be added to the Hockey Hall of Fame selection committee.

You said it, haters gonna hate, and the two biggest haters keeping him out are burke and quinn

imagine if he was playing today in the no redline, whistle happy NHL? stats that guys like crosby are getting are way overblown since they came in to the league post lockout with scorer friendly new rules. Bure did it with guys draped over him, getting hacked all night.

Actually, in the early 90s the number of goals per game was significantly higher. The new scorer-friendly rules were brought in to compensate for the increased use of effective defensive systems and the increasing size and defensive skill of players at all positions that led to a decrease in scoring in the first place. Bure probably had it easier in a sense.

Why on earth would Burke and Quinn be "haters"?

No kidding. That helps Bure's case if anything.

They've got to stack the deck for ex-Leafs. Dick Duff got in, but still Jiri Crha remains HOF-less.

If Cam Neely can get into the HHOF then Bure should be in...hell if Cam Neely can get in, John LeClair should be able to get in!

Seeing Bure aged like that for the first time is so... weird. It's like the first time I saw an old Mark Hamill in an interview about the Joker.
