So how has the almighty "Mcracken" been working out for you guys? I've always liked this guy, for a top heavy he can play the game, and he brings crazy intimidation. But, with he decline of heavies in the league now, do you think management will toss him away, like the others in the league? He is 30, and is moved around constantly, but I think this team could keep him a safe spot for couple seasons.
I say, play him every game, Tootoo & Mcracken bring physical energy few teams have in the west. Like him? Dislike him?
Love him. Plays a better all around game than any enforcer we've ever had, maybe one of the better all around games in the league, in that category. And...the dude just doesn't lose a fight.

no kidding. I cant imagine that Porn Stache Parros was such a better option for Anaheim that they let McG go but Im glad they did
I do believe Saturday his presence and the early beatdown he administered was a deterrent to any further monkey business from the Jax... was probably the first time I can remember Trotz actually following through with "taking names" as we seemed to be taking care of business for the hit on Erat on opening night..
I knew he was one of the better fighters in the league, but I expected him to just be a big useless oaf out on the ice otherwise. So far, he's proven me wrong, he's not a guy you want playing 10-15 minutes a game, but when he is out there, he's looked alright. Can't complain about the fighting either, throws bombs, can take a hit, never loses.
I think the majority of fans like McGrattan. It's easy to like a fighter, but it's easy to forget that most of them have no idea how to play the game at this level. McGrattan, however, doesn't seem to look lost or out of place when he's out there. He will put himself in front of the net when we have the puck, has a pretty decent sense of awareness and makes an effort to contribute in other ways besides fighting. As was also mentioned, the guy just doesn't lose fights and I bet the guys like having him in the locker room also. I think he's one of the best out there as far as "overall enforcers" go, and in that same category, probably the best we've ever had to this point or certainly in line to be.
Of course, before we signed him, our option was Zack Stortini so that just makes it even better.
when we got him, trotz said they got him because he could play a little bit of hockey as well as fight. I think he has done what we needed him to do. suck up 7 min a night, don't be a terrible liabilty, and beat the **** out of people when needed.
Will he go at the end of the season? No idea, but he has been a very welcome addition. Solid fourth line guy who has the ability to throw with the best of 'em. It's not a Barry Trotz team without a heavyweight, and we're not going to do much better in that category than McGrattan.
Like McGrattan and he skates fairly well for a big guy. Hope he re-signs.
Most guys in his situation would gladly re-sign with a team. I think it's more a matter of us wanting him to, and I seriously doubt at this rate we wouldn't want to.

I like him, too. Great picture by the way...check out the guys' reactions.

My favorite part of that picture (other than the reaction Grats got from the bench) is the bald dude in the background wearing the sweater vest with his arms up in the air

The shot on TV was great too. It went in tight on McGrattan's face right after that while he was skating to the box. He was looking up at the crowd and he just had an amazed look in his eyes and cracked an awkward little smile, he just looked like he was taken back by the crowd reception and thought it was pretty cool.
