Feb 8 update posted: Pronger (concussion) likely out for the season

Multiple twitter reports:

Randy Miller: #Flyers call up Kevin Marshall and Marc-Andre Bourdon from AHL. Gustafsson has to be going on long-term IR.

Panotch: CSN's John Boruk reporting Chris Pronger and Braydon Coburn both out tonight; I thought Pronger since jersey not there today

Dave Isaac: Marc-Andre Bourdon is in the lineup for Braydon Coburn as well: article

Mod edit:

http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/flyers...300&feedID=695

Quote:
Because the Flyers had zero cap space and needed to recall Kevin Marshall and Marc-Andre Bourdon from the Phantoms, they needed to make a roster move. Two, actually.

Gustafsson was placed on long-term injury, while forward Harry Zolnierczyk was assigned to Trenton. Those two moves freed up $1.8 million in salary cap space to allow for Marshall and Bourdon to join the roster.

Bourdon’s cap hit is $875,000, while Marshal’s is $845,833.

“We’re just parking Harry there for a little while,” Holmgren said. “It’s due to our roster numbers and not our cap.”

Bourdon & Marshall in tonight for Coburn & Pronger, apparently. We saw both in Glens Falls less than 2 weeks ago. They weren't impressive.

No one is quite sure yet. Also I should note, I don't mean dream pairing as in they are going to own the NHL. They are just two of my favorite longshot prospects.

Hmm any way we can stick Timonen out there all game?

With the way the defense has played this year, the thought of having 2 of Carle, Meszaros, Lilja, Bourdon and Marshall on the ice of the same time isn't too comforting

??? Their pretty bad. Marshall cant make an outlet pass which we will see tonight (makes Matt Carle look like our best outlet passer), and Bourdon got demoted to the ECHL last season for poor play.

Also Harry Z was sent to...the ECHL. What the hell?

If every defenseman needed a great outlet pass we would never have had the Derian Hatcher / Hal Gills of the world. And Bourdon was sent down to rehab a bad knee injury that required surgery and a lot of missed time.

Thats incorrect. Average D + terrible passing doesnt make for a good player. Marshall's defense isnt close to NHL quality, hence why he hasnt played in the NHL yet. Also Bourdon was injured. You are correct. But he played games in the AHL AFTER his injury to get sent down. He was also scratched almost every other game till he was sent down.

Luckily it seems it isnt too bad, for sending Harry Z to Trenton means he is still in Jersey and is close. Seems like we only have to survive this for one game. I like longhots also...but I have seen enough of these two the past two years to see that they STILL havent fixed their flaws.

I heard Pronger and Coburn were out boozing in old city when they sustained minor injuries in a bar-fight.

It was only a matter of time... wearing the Flyers' "C" does things to you. It's too much power for any one man to bear... even Chris Pronger. The ladies just throw themselves at you.

Pronger/Cobie injuries are minor, so Harry Z will be back in the NHL as soon as moves can be made tomorrow. He was sent to Trenton b/c it is closer than Adirondack.

Supposedly its because they want him close by so they can recall him after tonights game. Coburn and/or Pronger might not be that bad.
