Imagine being the coach of Acadie-Bathurst?

"Let's see - first line center - Bergeron."

Not so fast, coach!

Pretty much.

Losing Patrice has to be a big blow to that team. Kinda like the Tacoma Rockets coach in '95 when Kyle McLaren made the B's as an 18-year-old...

I'm sure that the Soo Greyhounds coach knew he wouldn't be seeing Joe Thornton again in '97, but guys like McLaren and Bergeron who surprise everyone by sticking right away no doubt have a major ripple effect on their junior clubs who lose them for nothing.

Say what we want, but Marty Lapointe will be earning his 5 million this year for the role he is playing with Bergeron. If we get a 2-3 line center out of a second round pick and Marty plays his style, we'll be getting our money's worth.

marc-andre fleury was asked about bergeron in today's post-gazette:

Boston C Patrice Bergeron not only is the youngest player in the NHL this season, but the highest-scoring rookie in the league with three goals and five assists in 11 games. "He's been real consistent from the beginning of training camp," Bruins coach Mike Sullivan told the Boston Globe. Fleury, who played against him in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, said he is not surprised that Bergeron has been so productive, so quickly. "For a rookie, that's very good," Fleury said. "But he's always been good."
