I think you're over valuing the Flames roster a bit too much.

If you have lindback shouldn't Kippersoff be shipped off for whatever you can get?

Karlsson and Jokinen ones are horrible.

Tanguay deal is fair. So is Bourque.

Iginla's value is not that far off, I'd think, obviously the wrong team though.

If you're going to trade Iginla, at least send him to a contender. The man deserves a chance.

Karlsson and Hannan can get you Derrick Brassard

Why would Iginla accept a trade to a non playoff team?

Let me try this too

The First 3 deals here are ones where I had agreed
Predators get:
- Jarome Iginla
- Henrik Karlsson
- Cory Sarich
Flames get:
- Ryan Ellis
- Jonathan Beck
- Anders Lindback
- 1st in 2012
- 3rd in 2012
This one was agreed to with "BarryTrotzNeck"

Bruins get:
- Rene Bourque
Flames get:
- 1st in 2012
- Jordan Caron
This was agreed to with "Bill Ladd"

Blue Jackets get:
- Jay Bouwmeester
- David Moss
- Ryley Grantham
Flames get:
- Derick Brassard
- Grant Clitsome
- Kristian Huselius
- 1st in 2012 (move to 2013 if CBJ misses playoffs this year)
This was agreed with "Fro" and "Crisp Breakout"

some other ideas I have:

Lightning get:

- Miikka Kiprusoff
Flames get:
- 1st in 2012
Roli has struggled and Kiprusoff has been very strong this year, Kipper makes the Bolts a contender IMO

Sabres get:
- Olli Jokinen
Flames get:
- 2nd in 2012 (Flames pick)
- 2nd in 2012
- Brad Boyes
Sabres get a strong 2way center for a playoff run, Boyes is included purely for cap reasons.

Kings get:
- Lee Stempniak
Flames get:
- 3rd in 2013

Panthers get:
- Scott Hannan
Flames get:
- Alexander Petrovic
- 5th in 2012

No thanks, that's way too much for a player that we likely wouldn't retain (due to our cap situation).

Boyes has been solid lately and has started to learn our system, which seems to be an issue with new players (I'm starting to think this is why all of our trade deadline acquisitions fail).
Instead of testing our luck again, we might as well just stick with what we have and keep our 2nd's, something that we haven't had in three drafts prior.

If we're trading additional assets instead of just a straight up swap of players, the player we're shipping out has to be one that is committed beyond this season, as the money used on Boyes this season is already allocated for Myers' new contract next season.
Unless the upper limit is increased by $3-4m, there's just no point in throwing away picks for a player we won't retain.
Jokinen won't push us over the top, as our current group has flaws that need to be corrected (read: we need to retool some things and adding a player like him won't really help).

Florida fan here, who comes in peace. No thanks on any of your trade proposals. However, if the Flames want to rebuild on the fly, we have tremendous depth in our prospect pool and would be quite willing to trade some of our surplus, who are close to NHL ready, for future picks.

Presumably, the Flames could recover some of those picks by trading vets at the TDL to contenders.

Players that might be available for a reasonable return would be:
Drew Shore, c
Michael Repik, LW
AJ jenks, LW
Adam Comrie, D
Michael Caruso, D

"To FLA - Olli Jokinen & 3rd Round Pick
To CGY – Nick Bjugstad"

Tallon isn't going to trade any prospects.

Panthers have no interest in Jokinen, and certainly not for Bjugstad, a former No. 1 pick, who we hit on and who has become one of our top prospects. A "treasure for trash" trade proposal is not of interest.

I disagree as to Tallon's willingness to trade prospects. For example, only recently, Tallon has made several trades of prospects, which is how we acquired Seabrook's younger brother and Shirokov.

Tallon is a trader pure and simple.

Yeah, if you are to trade Iginla, send him to a contender. I can see L.A. adding him as the final piece to their puzzle.

I was referring to Tallon not trading any of his highly touted prospects. I mean, this guy was the guy who won the Blackhawks the Stanley Cup, not Stan Bowman. He was the guy who got Toews and Kane, among others.

I'd say Tallon has no interest in trading the following: Huberdeau, Bjugstad, Petrovic, Gudbranson, Markstrom.

I'd say you are 100% correct. Right now, the Florida challenge is too much depth involving maturing prospects who are close to NHL ready but unlikely to get a chance in Florida. For example, we are so stocked on defense that we have to sit either Ellerby or Gudbranson thereby hindering their development.

We are also poor and cheap, which is why we traded Booth for 2 vets on expiring contracts, one of whom remains injured. We needed to free up additional dollars in 2012 to resign Versteeg and Garrison, while remaining at the salary floor.

My understanding largely based on HF analysis is that the Flames lack a deep prospect pool. Accordingly, it would seem that there is an opportunity for the Flames to acquire much needed prospects from a team that is overstocked. I am not suggesting that Tallon is going to trade potential stars, but the Flames could seemingly benefit from acquiring solid 3rd liners and 4-6 d-men prospects for a reasonable price.

Tallon had 2 highly touted prospects he drafted (Kane/Toews)

A more accurate phrase would be "Tallon not trading Mike Smith's foundation of Keith/Seabrook , etc) that eventually won the Hawks the cup

I wish you all the best in your rebuild. That said, I see absolutely no reason for the other teams to accept with any of those deals. Face it, the only way Calgary is going to get better is by letting a bunch of free agents go this off-season, getting rid of stajan, and drafting well.

Realistically the Flames will fire Sutter before they even think about a re-build.
