I think they should waive plugs like Orr, Rosehill and Brown and dressed young skilled guys like Kadri and Colborne on the 4th line and get some secondary scoring.

It starts with the defence, they have to be tougher in front of the net and not allowing people to drive hard to the net. Phanuef, Komi (when healthy), Schenn, Franson and to a lesser extent Gunnerson have to make the other team pay the price physically and make them want to play a perimiter game because they dont want to play through our defence. It really shouldn't matter if it is Reimer, Gus, Scrivens or some kid playing minor hockey.. its how you play defence.

Well for a start, they can start punishing guys who take a run at our goalies?

6 or 7 times this season our goalies have been bumped and run and how many times have we seen someone stand up for them? Not once. How about a firm reply when it happens next, to start telling these guys that it's unacceptable

I was surprised no one took notice to Malone. Kind of makes you wonder how the guys feel about Gusto.

Orr and Rosehill will definitely take exception and would be our most effective guys in that regard but they won't be dressed regularly and frankly, if the better chance of us winning is with them sitting in the pressbox, then that's where they should be.

Schenn isn't a fighter but he does stick up for his teammates. He's not overly effective but the kid tries. Komi will do the same. I can't see Frason, Lilies, Phaneuf or Gunnar doing it because they aren't physical like that. Phaneuf is a hitter but he's not a fighter. Aulie's not in the lineup but ideally, he's the most effective player you could have on the ice for a situation like that. He's a serviceable player who's got size, reach and we've seen that he is willing to go to toe to toe if need be.

I wouldn't peg Gardiner as a guy to get physical but Stamkos seemed to get him fired up near the end of the game but I can't say for certain whether he would've done anything about it. The only he had to lose was the fight itself seeing as how the team was already up 7-1 at that point.

The incident was pretty harmless so I don't see any reason why the Leafs would start a fight and force a break in play when they were the ones in control of the puck and moving it up ice.

I wouldn't make any inferences about the play and what it means to the close relationships on the team. Gus is pretty close with many of the guys. My sister has twitter and follows all of the Leafs and it seems that Gus is good friends with Kessel, Bozak, Gunnar, Schenn, and Army and he spends time off the ice with those guys. His girlfriend is close with many of their girlfriends as well.

They want to make sure that he is 100% when he actually returns. If it takes him 10 more days to get to 100% then so be it.

Agreed. When you're dealing with a concussion, especially when it's your #1 goaltender, better safe than sorry.

That said, from his latest interviews he seems like he's ready and wants to get back and play. He just needs to work back into game-shape, conditioning, etc. Can't wait for this team to have some consistent goaltending again.

So now that he has been out for over 30 days can he be put on LTIR retroactively and is there any advantage to it at this point?

Agreed, if they want 10 more days to evaluate, they I'm more than happy to be patient. I think they're giving him 10 days to bring his conditioning up to speed and monitor him to make sure that the pace is not causing any of the annoying headaches he was getting before.

I don't think so. They already brought up a 7th d. If they're looking for a jolt in offense, they can put him on LTIR and bring up Kadri as that would free up the space to accomodate Kadri's contract but with the team has played in their last several games, I don't think management will see any reason to tamper with the lines much.

I can wait 10 days. Gus has been playing solid lately so he should be able to steer the ship until Reimer comes back

Where are you guys getting the 10 days from? Reimer said he just needs two more good practices and then it's up to wilson.

"There's no rush here," concluded Wilson. "That's why it's going to take some time because we don't have very many quality practices for him to catch up. He's just got be patient. It's a process. Ten days or so out, somewhere in there he'll be ready to play."

“He’s pretty close,” Leafs coach Ron Wilson said. “By the end of the week, he’ll probably be backing up. Not (Wednesday), but the game in Boston, more than likely, and then we’ll make a decision on when he starts.”
