Maybe on a wider European rink he can avoid play in the corners.

Bergy don't do puck battles.

I don't think this was a shock for anyone. It was a low risk/medium reward signing. It turned out to just be low risk.

I have no problem taking a gamble on a $500k player that doesn't pan out. That's a lot better than risking that on a $2-3 million player that either doesn't pan out, or is injury prone.

In the end, a lot of the comments are spot on: he's just not a Trotzian player. He has some decent puck skills, but he completely lacks the grinding element required to succeed in this system.

Say what you will about Sergei Kostitsyn so far, but one thing about Kostitsyn is he will forecheck and he will hit. He's also versatile in the sense that he can be used on the PP and PK. Bergfors is most certainly not a PK guy, and I never really saw anything that makes me think he would make a difference on the PP (what we need on the PP is a bona fide shooter -- another Craig Smith would be nice -- but perhaps with a heavier shot).

Also, Bergfors didn't seem to gel on any line he was on. When Fisher was out for a few games early, and when Leggy went down for a few recently, it would've been the perfect time for him to step up, get some increased ice time, and contribute. He simply didn't do that.

Sidenote: Leggy coming back has kind of messed with the chemistry that the Horny Wilson Smith line. That line had something going...I hate to demote Leggy to 3rd line...but I think HWS and Ratfishtits have solid chemistry.

I doubt he clears if he is ever recalled, but then I'm not sure I'd like to find out. I am not the biggest Bergfors fan.

The coach also told reporter Josh Cooper that no Milwaukee player would get a call-up, but he did “tout” Kyle Wilson and Roman Josi if an Admiral is summoned in the near future.
So sounds like Wilson and Josi will be the first forward and defenseman callups when needed.

According to Expressen, he's only in Milwaukee until he can get a deal in the SEL or possibly KHL.

At least we won't have to pay him, at that point.

I can't wait for Wilson to get his chance with the Preds. He wasn't bad with the BJ's and their fans felt like he wasn't given a fair chance under poor management.

Bergfors on unconditional waivers today. If he clears, Bergfors and Nashville can mutually agree to terminate his contract (Usually occurs when a player has an offer overseas).

Honestly, I thought he would end up back in Europe if he didn't work out here. Good luck to him

That is what I've been hearing as well.

Kyle Wilson is a good two-way forward that can play up and down the lineup, is good on the PK, and has NHL experience with Columbus. Leading scorer for the Ads right now, with Ryan Thang and Gabriel Bourque both finding themselves in a bit of a lull in terms of getting on the scoresheet, I think Wilson has earned his way into that No. 1 call-up spot.

Roman Josi was scheduled to start up here until he suffered the concussion on the opening day of camp. Clearly he has to prove he can be durable, but he's got a goal and three assists in five games with the Ads since his return and has lead the team in shots on goal on several occasions.

Milwaukee is pretty well stocked right now should we need them...

He started out shockingly well with us at first, to the point where we figured we had another quality bottom-6er for the fulltime roster, but then abruptly went into a tailspin and got sent back to Springfield. Makes one suspect it was a pacing problem w/r/t the speed of the NHL. Here's hoping he does better in Smashville.

Low-risk signing that didn't pan out.

Wonder which club he'll end up with. I have to think he's bound for Sweden.

FWIW, Latta tweeted Blum today saying he was getting a big surprise today, then he later tweeted that he just dropped off Josi at the airport. Latta, Beck, and Josi share an apartment in Milwaukee...

Yes, this is a completely unconfirmed rumor and I'm not telling anyone to put anything into it, however...I believe that Roman Josi will be recalled officially as of 11 AM tomorrow and be on the ice practicing with the Preds tomorrow morning at Centennial.

Unfortunately, I'll be working from 8:30 to 6 PM tomorrow, so I'll be totally out of the loop!

Am I right that a lot of Jackets fans feel that Howson sent him down unfairly though?

It'll be interesting to see. I think we have all been waiting to see what Josi can do in the big leagues. Here's to hoping it's not just a rumor!

Honestly, I'm not sure, as I wasn't paying close attention to that one. He had been told (per Portzline) to get himself a place here in Columbus a couple months earlier, so that was rather unfortunate.

This naturally suggests the conspiracy theory that he dropped off BECAUSE he was told he was going to get to stay. Dunno how true that is; I was more concerned about absolutely nobody having a good December rather than just him.
