Last year I felt he contributed beyond any expectation, much like Moen this year.
This year however, he is showing why he is a veteran ahler. He has brought close to nothing on the ice imo.

AK46 will not play tomorrow according to Renaud Lavoie's twitter. Markov neither but that's not surprising.

Smells like 7 D tomorrow.

That is precisely the problem, the general concensus is the only reason why he's on the team this season is because of injuries to other players and the fact he's a francophone to please the media. He's been borderline bad.

To me if your going to play on the fourth line you have to bring an element to the game, whether it be grit, toughness, PP specialist (which Darche most certainly is NOT), PK specialist, faceoff specialist, etc. You have to be great at atleast one or a couple of these things to be relevent in your 7-10 minutes of ice time. Darche isn't, he is simply a plug that often goes un noticed and doesn't effect the game in a positive or negative fashion. He's just "there" and he speaks French.

Noke is a good fourth line center, he's a big body that can win draws and kill some penalties. Ryan White is a good fourth liner because he's plays extremely gritty and brings toughness. We need another "role player" for the fourth line, Darche is not the answer.

I totally agree with your assessment. Still, last season, Darche was at putting up numbers because of his hard work which justifies him as an all-around type player. In a way that is his speciality, being all-around not bad, being average with glimpse's of upside.

As for Nokes, on 5-on-5 play I would play him on the W with Eller and AK because Eller struggles on faceoffs.

In theory this is true, except it mostly applies to last season. I agree he was a pleasant surprise last season, I think anyone can admit that whether they like him or not. Frankly his play this season does not reflect his play last season at all, he looks very sluggish and well, like others have said a career AHLer at best. It's been a nice ride for him, he made some money playing NHL hockey... All I'm saying is if I was PG I'd be pulling the plug on the Darche expirement and getting a body that can bring something of substance to that fourth line.

Cammy-Pleks-Gio
Patches-DD-Cole
Moen-Eller-AK
XXX-Noke-White

Gomez is dead to me.

I don't have a problem with Darche on the 4th. What I have a problem with is Martin playing him like hes the best player on the team and hes not doing much of anything.

Moen - Plekanec - Cammalleri : 2 speedsters and a finisher !
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole : 2 big guys + a speedster playmaker
Kostitsyn - Eller - Gionta : 2 big guys and the captain
Darche - Nokelainen - Palushaj (Avtsin / Gomez / Weber)

I try this line up when Kostitsyn will be back !

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Diaz - Gill

(Campoli - Spacek)

Gomez Campoli and Spacek are sidekick to use rarely !!

Moen has been awesome with Kostitsyn & Eller, but Palushaj is not useful in a 4th line role, so I'd keep the lines they way they are. Love .

A healthy Ryan White on the 4th line instead of Darche and suddenly we have 4 well rounded lines.

With what we have in the system?Gomez-Eller-Kostitsyn, Moen-Nokalainen-White is probably the best we can hope for. But, we all know deep down that Moen should be joining his 2 favorite line mates and there should be 1 other tough player to join White on the 4th line.

While Moen click pretty well with Eller and A.Kost, it could be pretty interesting to see Palushaj compliment that line, the kid has some good speed and nice pair of hands..

Leblanc with his fiestyness in the corners and good 2-way play would look SO much better in that 3rd linr RW spot. Plus having a 1st round hometown player never hurts...

Guy gets awarded 2.5 million in arbitration(costing us less), plays one game for us and he's a sidekick, really? But you have both Emelin AND Diaz in the lineup? really?

I do too, but Palushaj has been playing well of late, and has more hockey sense...although Moen has been holding his own this season.

However how will Palushaj develop if he's never given 3rd line minutes? I see no reason not to alternate them back and forth but to keep Palushaj on the 4th line all season is a bit of a shame.
exactly how i feel about this.

if palushaj - by the way we need a nickname for this guy - struggles during a game, switch 'em around.

palushayyyyy has been looking better and better, so i say give him the chance. if anything, travis 'golden hans' moen can be sent back up and go for a hat trick or something

Want to hear a crazy stat? We haven't given up a PP goal since Nov 5 vs the Rangers on a 5 on 3. We've killed 36 consecutive penalties.
We haven't given any 4 on 5 PP goal since October 27 vs the Bruins.
