It is not exactly high quality of forwards Zuccarello fights with on the roster. He should really knock some of these guys out. But I hope he will be traded to the Jets.
The only one here that is not untouchable is Christensen. And the only one I believe donīt have to clear waivers is Stepan? And Stepan to Whale will NEVER happen.

Zooks was 5th on the team in points per game last season.
He was one of the better players in training camp
He has been a point per game player in the AHL

I hope he is one day given a legit chance to play (not 7 sporadic minutes with 4th liners).

As far as that first game goes I didnt see that check as being a stupid penalty. This is hockey so there is contact. That sort of (push) play used to happen every game in the NHL and not have a penalty called. I'm not saying it shouldnt have been called. I'm just saying it wasnt that big of a deal. As far as missing in the shootout goes, every Ranger missed in that shootout. Zooks attempt actually had the best chance of going in.

If you want to qualify the value of bigger, more physical, and better defensive forwards than Zuccarello entirely by goals, sure.

Anisimov is leading the team in assists and is a top PKer for the team. Dubi and Step are both doing well in assists and kill penalties as well.

Wolski is injured. He isnt competing with anyone right now.

Really the only one Zucc has a chance to beat right now is Christensen. And with Anisimov at wing right now we need him at center.

That was a great save actually, and he has not missed a penalty shot since.

Has anyone found video of his fantastic game winning assist yesterday?

Once again, his agent Erik Ryman shows he has zero credibility. If i was zucc, i would fire that muppet. Zucc wants to stay in NA and he wants to play in the NHL, end of story. Don't believe for a second when that muppet of an agent of his, opens his stupid mouth.

Not that I do not agree with you on (most) your characteristics of Ryman, but I dont see what you are talking about with regards to this article. As far as I can see there are no comments from Ryman in the posted link.

There isnt. Its basically just a short interview reiterating that Zuke wants to fight his way back to the NHL, and is dismissing a move to the KHL or Sweden.

The Whale has also apparently gotten a new head coach in Ken Hernander

And a year ago, Mats Zuccarello was on the ice for 12 power play goals in 106:42, one per 8:53, a better rate than any player on the Rangersí roster.

Tortorella last year talked about Zuccarelloís ability to conceive and make plays that no one else on the club could. Whatís changed, other than the fact that the Norwegian seems to have taken up permanent residence in Hartford?

Itís difficult to believe that Zuccarello, either at the point or working the half-wall, isnít worth a look at this stage. Itís difficult to believe his creativity would not be an asset.

Itís also difficult to believe that Zuccarello on a line with Christensen and Sean Avery wouldnít be more productive than a line with Christensen, Andre Deveaux and either Avery, Brandon Prust or Brian Boyle on the other wing.

Christensen is not a useless player. But he is all but useless as he is being used on a fourth-line that gets the most limited time imaginable and has no real purpose other than to fill time.

It would be interesting to see Christensen taking a regular turn with a talented winger in Zuccarello on one side and a forechecking, physical winger in Avery on the other side. And it would be interesting to see a power play with Zuccarello on it after 17 games of watching a power play that isnít interesting in the least.

MZA BR Cally
AA STEPGABY
HAGELIN Dubi Prust
Avery Boyle Feds

I've seen enough of Boyle anywhere near the top 9 . I've honestly seen enough of Feds as well . If anyone thiks endless cycling the puck and not shooting is going to beat Boston , Tampa , Philly , NJ or washingon or Pitt for that matter they are crazy . All these teams once they get a lead will trap us and our lack of skill and speed as currently structured will be the ticket back to 500 hockey .

Very helpful. I remember in NHL 97 I had Andrei Kovalenko and Valeri Bure on a line, they both got somewhere around 100 points or more, really foretold their future exploits.

If Zuccarello is so good, why don't we trade him for a defenseman? That's what NYR really needs.

All better than Zuccarello. Unless they want to go with this:

Dubinsky-Richards-Callahan
Zuccarello-Stepan-Gaborik

Zuccarello won't get top-6 ice time.
Hold up WW is not in the slightest sense better than MZA.

Mats, its getting pretty clear you won't get another chance in this club. As much as I wanted you to make it as a Ranger it's just not going to happen.

I hope you get signed by another NHL team when your contract expires, and that you can thrive there. As long as it is not at the expense of us of course. Even if you end up on a crap team I will still be happy for you if you make it.

At least MZAs stay in AHL has shown me that my love for the Rangers is not conditioned by the presence of a Norwegian on the roster.

As someone else mentioned, I think this weekend can be interesting for Zuke. He has two games with the Whale, and the Rangers have two games with Hagelin in the roster.

I've been hard on Zuccarello, but, really, I've always liked the kid.

At this point, with how ****** the Rangers have been on the attack, id call up Zuccarello.

Power Play is awful. We need some creativity.

When Wolski comes back:

Wolski. Stepan. Gaborik
Hagelin. Richards. Callahan
Dubinsky. Anisimov. Zuccarello
Avery/Fedotenko. Boyle. Prust

Don't need Rupp, don't need Christensen.

Can't argue that Zuccarello hasn't been productive.

Still concerned about his skating and strength at the NHL level. But whatever. Give the kid a look.
