Feb 86 in the old forum, the Habs beat the Jets 6-0 and Bob Gainey scored a hat trick...his only hat trick, I believe...later that spring the Habs won the Cup!!!

Trying to remember my first game it was either 87 or 88 I think at the Forum. I went to a few games that year. I still have some pictures. It was Buffalo I think. Need to find those old ticket stubs! Anyway, I did go to a few games in 1990 as well. Here are a few pics from one of those games...

Feb 1978 vs Penguins of old. 13-0 Canadiens. As I was seated behind Habs bench, Lafleur bolted down the right wing and entire crowd stood. He missed. I sat and my 8 year old voice screamed to my mom, 'That was Guy Lafleur!!' THe entire section turned to me and gave me a cheer. I remember the lingering smiling faces long after the cheer subsided. It was like being struck by a lightning bolt I think.

I also remember someone on the Penguins taking a slapshot in the head at center ice. It must have been a Montreal Dman, but the play was not in Montreal's zone and he was drilling it down the ice seems like. There was a huge pile of blood, but the guy was ok. No helmets.

I remember seeing the circus as a kid too. Similar feeling. I have recollections of seeing them in the late 70's/early 80's because my mom knew Geraldine Doucet (wife of Roger - awesome anthem singer, and then awesome anthem singer herself).

Yep, bought scalper tix 5 minutes into the 1st period in Buffalo with two buddies who are Sabre fans.

The game went into overtime and I got my extra 5 minutes anyway, plus the Habs scored and won!

It was in 1997, not sure of the date, but it in November.

My first game in Montreal, the December 4th, 2009 100th Anniversary game against the Bruins. Cammy got the hat trick (Bruin fan threw his jersey on the ice too), the ceremonies were awesome, we were all crying and clapping in the stands that evening.

Best weekend ever!

I still remember the Buffalo game I went to in the 80s. Christian Ruuttu was skating during the warmup without a helmet and he lost a edge and went head first into the boards. Doctors had to take him off the ice!

My second game in Buffalo was when Theodore was cranked by a Sabre and Gilmour went nuts on the guy.

The Sabres were in the lead at the time, Garon came in and shut the door and we won. It was so funny sitting with the Sabre fans around us saying the worse thing the Sabres could have done was hitting Theo and getting Garon in there! lol

Oct 27th, 2005 in Ottawa. Spezza scored that dirty goal in overtime where he dangled Souray into the rafters and beat Theodore. I was pretty deflated, but the one point acquired for the OT loss kept the Habs ahead of the Sens by one point in the standings at the time, so Habs fans were chanting "We're still first!" on the way out of the arena. It was a good time.

1981 intrasquad game. Lafleur and Gretzky on the same team. Bossy, Robinson, Potvin... pretty cool first game to see.

I think that LA game I went to in 1990(!?!) was a game that Robinson was playing for them. I think I have a picture here somewhere if I can find it of him playing for them.

Pre-1996 because I know I went to a game at the old Forum.

Can't remember the team we were playing against though, I was probably too young.

I live in Quebec City and my dad used to get free tickets for the Nordiques from his job. I can't remember because it's too long ago but he told me we were going to the games and always left between the 2nd and the 3rd because I was sleepy

First time I went to the Bell Center was on april 8th 2006 against the Devils. They lost 3-2, in fact I've never seen them win a game live.. Gionta finished the game with a goal and an assist.

Gomez with 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points

True story!!

First game at the Bell Center was December 2nd 2003, Habs VS Lightning.

Montreal won 3-2, and I remember thinking "that would be a great match-up for the Canadiens in the playoffs". Man was I ever wrong!

This is the GDT for that game: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=32585

Look at that line-up:
20 Zednik – 11 Koivu – 73 Ryder
94 Perreault – 71 Ribeiro – 26 Dagenais
38/25/37 – 90 Juneau – 24 Dackell
15 Langdon – 22 Begin – 25/37

Yikes.

Also, they handed out Markov bobbleheads at that game. I didn't really know the player at the time but thought he looked friggin scary!

My Habs game ever was at the Bell Center on April 1,2000 against the Sabres. Being 18 in Montreal with a few friends what a blast. As I walked into the Bell Center and what an atmosphere!!! It was actually electric (keep in mind i was used to seeing a QMJHL team in a 4600 seat rink). The Habs of course lost 2-0 as there team was pretty bad. http://www.hockey-reference.com/boxs...004010MTL.html

No matter what the out come was I'll never forget the crowd and how electric the city was. Montreal is truly a hockey city as I went to games in Toronto(2005 vs habs) and Edmonton (2010 vs sharks) and the buzz was no where near that of the city of Montreal. Just being there made me proud to be a Hab fan.

My first game was a total blowout against the Panthers in '93, I remember getting chuckles from the fans around me when I yelled that Roy should go put on a tutu... He had played the puck way out of his net tried to spin around one of their forwards and got caught...

Was a terrible game but as a first experience it was great, the Forum was intense and I ended up going to 6-8 games a year until it closed down thanks to freebies from school

Old Forum, 89 or so, standing .. had never watched hockey and was a HUGE baseball fan (being Cuban this is as obvious as saying somebody from Montreal is a hockey fan, lol)

A friend told me if I went to see a hockey game live, I would never watch a full baseball game again in my life. He was right. Been a hockey fan ever since.

Actually I forgot that my first NHL game was half an NHL game. Minnesota North Stars vs Canadian National Team at Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay. Would have been late 80s/early 90s. Pretty sure Team Canada won 5-2.

Goes to show how long I've been around. For me, the old Forum is pre 1967... Ouch!

Send a message via ICQ to DJyellow
it was against the Whalers or the Sabres in the mid-early 90s. Don't remember the Whalers games, but I remember Hasek shutting us out

I saw a couple of those Canada Cup games also. Lafleur played on a line with Gretzky and Perrault! Amazing! IIRC during the tournament Gretzy tripped and took Perrault into the boards when he broke a leg.

First Habs game was at the Pacific Coloseum in !978. 4-4 tie... I recall there seemed to be as many hab fans as canuck fans!

Feb 11, 2002 at the Molson Centre

Detroit 3 Montreal 2

Det had a lot of good players in their lineup that year.. Det was up 2-0, Habs came back late but the wings scored with 13 seconds left to win it in regulation..
