THE MATCHUP

4:00 PM ET
VERIZON CENTER - WASHINGTON, DC
MSG (HD) | CSN-MA, NHL-NETWORK (HD)
QUOTES TO NOTE
We did have some pretty good chances, one goes in here, one goes in there, it’s a different game.
I think we’re all trying to do the right thing, we’re working hard. Maybe a little quicker to have stuff support in the play in our end.
One on one battle and the puck squiggles loose and their right there to pick it up. I think we’re close to getting back.
- Dan Girardi
The big thing to me is just the confidence in each other. We’ve got to make sure we’re there supporting each other.
It doesn’t matter if one guy is on the forecheck if there’s nobody to pick up the puck. I don’t think it’s where it needs to be.
We’re a good team when we’re grinding and cycling and all those things happen because we’re supporting. It’s just not that consistent for us to get our offense going.
- Brandon Dubinsky
We have to stay together, just as we did as we were winning. I thought we were winning hockey games when we stayed within our team concept.
I think it’s gotten away from us a little bit, the details of the game. I hope nobody’s giving you excuses in the locker room because it isn’t that.
It comes and goes so we’ve got to try and grab some momentum and have something good happen to us for a period and hopefully we can build off of that.
- John Tortorella

Depending on which Rangers team decides to show up it could get really ugly or it could be a huge momentum win. The good news for us is that Washington isn't a fast team like Montreal or Florida.
Either way let's go Rangers.

Im nervous to even turn this game on.
4-1 loss. AO decides to have his breakout game of the season and score all 4 goals.

That 3rd line as projected above is nauseating . Enough of Fedotenko unless they start awarding points for kicking the puck on the boards for 20 s until the other team goes 3on 2 th other way

Almost forgot:
I hope Hagelin and Mitchell both get the go tonight above Christensen, both fit the grinding role better.
Stralman made my memories of Matt Gilroy look like Beukeboom last game. Played like a soccer defender.

Nothing's really final yet. I couldn't find any new updates on the lineup, so these are basically pre-NYR@FLA lines, minus Deveaux.
I think we'll see both Hagelin and Malkin in today, tbh.

Stralman makes Gilroy look like Langway.
The Caps haven't played well since the start of the season. Too many inconsistent games. Green has been banged up. Who is their goalie? Vukoun or Neuvirth? That team should be better than they have shown.

So when w'e win the lines r fine and system works but when w'e lose the lines shakeup but the system stays till it works? That's a lil off. W'e could use a little less dumping we've gotten more than a few wins and points by mixing in different styles of possession to suit the variety of players w'e have. Boyle needs to learn to control the puck he's been an offensive black hole

I'll be avoiding this one, for ethical reasons. Washington have also been struggling recently, especially defensively. But since our offense (partly because our transition game is non-existant) - and especially PP - is horrendeus, I think we will be the confidence boost they need.
We will struggle, Torts will juggle, Hank will stand on his head. Gladly prove me wrong on at least two of the accounts.
6-1 OTL.
