I sincerely doubt the Flames will be a cap team for long. Moves will be coming.

I don't think this year. I would be surprised if they started selling off their top players.

A lot of people will **** on the move, just because its the Flames and all.

But I'm a fan of the move it definitely could turn out bad, but even if it does he's on a expiring deal. Could work out also, which then perfect.

This is the type of move a team in the Flames position should be making

Exactly - low risk, high reward move by Calgary.

Cap hits don't bother me. It's not like we'll need a lot of room at the deadline.

With the Comeau claim further greasing the skis for a Bourque trade, one of the dominoes could be Kyle Turris. Now CGY can afford to give up more to get him too.

Good pick up for both club and player. Hope he turn his game around.

So they replaced Hagman on $3m with Comeau on $2.5m. Good move.

Edit: But Flames pay $1.5m for Hagman dont they? He was picked up on re-entry waiver if I am not mistaken.

SUNMacfarlane GM Feaster says priority now is to clear another spot to bring Paul Byron back asap. Had to assign to minors to fit Comeau. #flames

Glad Paul is doing well in Calgary. He was fun to watch when he was with the Sabres.

Finally a move where we can say that this is going to lead to something else.

Yeah, don't get excited, bud. The only place this trade is going is Leblond getting waived.

Hagman's Salary was $3 Million.

Flames are paying 1.5

In order to get Byron back up, we'd need to move a player for a pick, or do the two for one route.

Why not just complete the love-in and swap Stajan and Kostopolous for Rolston. Isles get younger and deeper (compared to Rolston), Flames get a roster spot for Byron. Isles shed a small bit of salary in the process, and have a center (who would get more opportunity in NY) signed for a couple more years.

Come on now, lets not rip them off twice in one day.

Doesn't Stajan have a NTC? Doubt he waives it for the Island.

Considering he has been in the dog house for almost an entire year now, I think he would seriously consider it.

I don't think Comeau is a 30+ guy. He is more of a 2nd/3rd line winger who will get you 20+. only way he becomes a 30+ guy is if he is on a line with a good center and RW who are pass first guy but they need a guy to do a little hitting

Comeau = overpaid. Hes a borderline 20 goal, 40pt guy. But hes a UFA this summer?
