The thing about Kovy and Zach is that even though they're not scoring the way we'd like them to, they're still contributing in other areas. I mean last year when Kovy wasn't scoring he was hurting the team, but DeBoer has them playing in a way so that they're holding their own in all other areas.
Carter, R - better than expected. good on PK, offensive impulse. scoring will come - B
Clarkson, D - on his top, absolutely important player for NJ - B+
Elias, P - defensively and offensively great, all around the puck, scores, assists...he simply is the man - A+
Henrique, A - impressed me a LOT. technical skills, fast...good scorer...ready for TOP6 center. defensively great - A-
Janssen, C - not too imperessed right now... - D
Kovalchuk, I - he is important, as elias is. he sets up so many chances...its not all about the score. the guy makes things happen!!! - A
Mills, B - great in the beginning, lately he was not showing too much...defensively great - B-
Palmieri, N - gets better from game to game IMO. would have liked to see him develope more...but he is sent down he was creating chances and near to score his first... - C+
Parise, Z - all around the puck, created chances. not a high scorer right now, but this will come when the lines all are tighened up...role player as well...important offensive impulses - A
Sykora, P - finally scores, he deserves it. good defensively. perfect on the 2nd line...i like him a lot - B+
Tedenby, M - absolutely a FAN of him, he should be on a higher line. his technical skills and speed is shown in every game but he cant do it all alone...sooo close to scoring...needs to be in TOP6 with parise or kovi as a winger and a center like zajac or henrique...then he'll will explode - B
Zubrus, D - offensively and defensively important, always to count on him - A
Fayne, M - absolutely great. really. defensively without mistakes, offensively with a great shot and good game play - A-
Greene, A - always there, always to rely on...you dont notice him everytime, but thats what so good about him - he does all the jobs u ask from him - B+
Larsson, A - he is a rookie - but he is already really great in reading the game and making right decisions. physically dominant. - A-
Salvador, B - i dont get all the criticism, IMHO he does all you ask him for - C+
Tallinder, H - all in all he is an offensive impulse. defensively stable. but we know he can be MUCH better offensively...time to brak out, Talli - B-
Volchenkov, A - important shot blocker, defensively sooo important. shutdown defensieveman. perfect in PK - B
Brodeur, M - there is NOTHING you can see him getting old...he still RULES damn hard... - A-
Hedberg, J - perfect, better than other first goalis - A-
Coaching staff - PP was a problem in the beginning, but its getting better...only problem: losing the lead and giving a clearly dominated game away because of bad 2nd/3rd periods...other than that, he gets the offense better and better production wise while being defensively tight - B
Penalty Kill - PERFECT - A+
PP - after not so good start, getting a LOOOT better from game to game B-
Overall team grade - B

Spot on. Wouldn't change a single thing... maybe Elias, who I'd give a A, but that's about it.

Once again, spot on.
I just don't know how someone who's averaging the least amount of icetime per game out of our entire d-core (17:11) and is -7 can get a A or B grade.
The PP has done more to hurt our record than our PK has helped us.
Palmieri can also be nothing else but an F, going from the 1st line to Albany in 6 weeks.
Elias, Zubrus, Clarkson, Henrique and Hedberg get A's.
Carter is a solid B+.
Kovy and Parise each get a C for their play, but give them both a + for the shootout.
Larsson has been better offensively lately, but worse defensively. I would like to see him start one-timing it on the PP a bit more. I am sure that will come with time.
The remainder of the defensemen reflect their mediocrity by having alternating good/bad games and periods. Overall, the defense core is coming together more slowly than I had hoped. I think the long stretches of being hemmed in our own zone is evidence of this.
DeBoer is a fine coach, the addition of Zajac should alleviate the square-peg/round-hole Parise/Kovy issue.
Oates (at the age of 49) would probaly be more helpful to us on the PP, rather than designing it. It is getting to the point where replacing him becomes an option. Also, we suck on FO's, which he was supposed to help with.
The thing about Kovy and Zach is that even though they're not scoring the way we'd like them to, they're still contributing in other areas. I mean last year when Kovy wasn't scoring he was hurting the team, but DeBoer has them playing in a way so that they're holding their own in all other areas.
Them not hurting our team is the least we can expect, but they are paid top money to score a combined 70+goals. Right now they are on pace for less than 50. And we can't count on Elias keeping that pace up the entire season.

Clarkson, D. -- Getting grades beyond any reasonable expectation. Must be cheating off Zubrus' paper. A
Henrique, A. -- The cute girl that sits up front. Puts the apple on the teachers desk. A-
Sykora, P. -- Back in nightschool to finally get that degree, dates the teacher. B+
Carter, R. -- The new exchange student that seems to get along with everyone. B
Parise, Z. -- Crowned King of the Prom and big man on campus, but has been slacking off on his studying a little too much. B-
Kovalchuk, I. -- Forgot his homework on the bus. C+
Tedenby, M. -- Aces one test, only to fail the next one, infuriating the teacher. C
Mills, B. -- Likeable stoner, often in the woods behind the school. C-
Palmieri, N. -- In danger of failing out. On double secret probation. D
Janssen, C. -- In Special Ed. Often found tied with bungee cable to the swingset, still in his hockey helmet. N/A
Larsson, A. -- The 15 year old in college. All the smarts in the world, but spends nights in a fetal position on the floor of his kitchen. B+
Fayne, M. -- Quiet cool. Cigarette behind the ear. B+
Tallinder, H. -- Acts like your Dad, but somebody has to buy the beer for everybody. B
Greene, A. -- Been losing his hair since the 7th grade, but it doesn't matter (as nobody notices him anyway.) B-
Volchenkov, A. -- Humorless foreign guy, often drunk on aftershave. Feared by entire school. C+
Salvador, B. -- Held back as a senior and retaking last years courses. Still barely passing. C-
Brodeur, M. -- Graduated years ago, but still likes hanging out. A-
Hedberg, J. -- Everyone's favorite teaching assistant. A-
Penalty Kill -- Brilliant and thrilling, best thing about the entire class. A+
Overall team grade - B
Jerry, that is beyond awesome
Clarkie and Sykie especially
If I may add - teacher radiates ... as if out of nowhere, his first love has magically returned to him
Hedberg - A - maybe the best backup in the league
Brodeur - B+ - looking like the old Marty after a slow start
Kovalchuk - C - 4 goals. Needs to improve his play. A C is generous
Parise - C - Same goes for him.
Elias - A - Our best player to this point
Zubrus - A - Our 2nd best player to this point
Clarkson - A- - Our 3rd best player to this point. A good surprise after last year's poor season
Sykora - B+ - Never expected this kind of production and ability from him. A steal.
Carter - B - Can't ask for more from a waiver wire pickup
Tedenby - C - Shows flashes, but needs consistent production and commitment on both ends of the ice
Palmieri - D - Showed far less flashes than Tedenby, and also was inconsistent on both ends of the ice
Janssen - B - For a goon, he's been relatively smart about picking his spots and hasn't been a total liability on the ice
Mills - C - Really hasn't stood out to me, good or bad. Kinda meh.
Pelley - Inc. - Hasn't played enough
Larsson - B+ - Future stud who is only going to get better. Only a rough stretch last week prevented this from being an A
Fayne - B+ - Steady on all ends of the rink. Will be a fixture on our 2nd pair for a long time IMO. Such a unexpected surprise
Greene - B - Has been very steady. Earning his contract at this early stage
Volchenkov - B - Contract aside, has played pretty well. Especially being paired with Sal 5 on 5. Great on the PK.
Tallinder - B- - Too inconsistent for a veteran, but overall has been above average. Getting more involved offensively
Salvador - C- - Excellent on the PK, disastrous even strength.
Fraser - Inc. - Hasn't played enough

Fraser - Inc. - Hasn't played enough
Elias - Best player on the ice. A
Zubrus - All heart, all effort, all character. A-
Henrique - Surprisingly good and consistent for his age. A-
Clarkson - Wow! Who is this? B+
Kovalchuk - Playing out of position a lot hurts his play. B
Sykora - Maybe put him on the right. Didn't expect much from him so a decent surprise. B
Carter - Surprisingly decent for a waiver wire acquisition. Somewhat one dimensional so far. B-
Parise - Need more from the captain and franchise player. C+
Mills - Essentially PK specialist. Carter is better version? C
Tedenby - Still too small and easily knocked off the puck. Not enough ice time to get in a groove, perhaps? C-
Palmieri - Expected more from him. Had many great opportunities. D
Janssen - Waste of a roster space IMO. F
Forward play overall - Not enough scoring. B-
Defense:
Fayne - Learning quickly and becoming a consistent defender. B-
Larsson - 19 and a definite NHL defender. B-
Volchenkov - He's good at what he's good at but hasn't had help he needs/deserves. B-
Greene - Eh. Points but I'm not liking his D zone play. C+
Tallinder - Sorry, but he's been a disappointment. C-
Salvador - He's a 6. Maybe. C-
Defense play overall - The achilles heel of this team. C-
Goaltending:
Hedberg - Been solid, especially in shootouts. A-
Brodeur - Better of late but injuries and inconsistency so far. B-
Overall: C+. We're an average team. Which is better than last season. But we're a .500 team so far.
